After a few months of delays, Tesla has now closed voting and announced the latest winners. Unlike in previous votes, Tesla didn’t actually announce a list of the winning locations, instead adding them to their map of future locations and leaving it to owners to find out where they were.

During the last round Canada swept the top 5 spots in North America. Unfortunately, Canada didn’t do as well this time, but did get two new Superchargers – one in Lake Louise, Alberta, and another Saint-Saveur, Quebec. Both locations do not have a targeted opening date, with Tesla recently updating their map to only have the status of future Superchargers as either ‘In Development’ or ‘Under Construction.’

As best we can tell from the map, here are the other North American winners in the Q3 2024 round of voting:

  • Hershey, Pennsylvania
  • Southern Pines, North Carolina
  • Brent, Florida
  • Murfreesboro, Tennessee
  • Gavelston, Texas
  • Durango, Colorado
  • Escalante, Utah
  • Prescott, Arizona

After a brief pause, Tesla (TSLA) AI software development team has picked up pace once again as new FSD Supervised v12.5 updates have started rolling out since last week.

The wait for Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) Tesla car owners for the Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature is over. Tesla’s new ASS feature enables the vehicle to reach you in a parking lot or driveway all on its own. HW3 cars lacked this feature but Tesla started rolling it out to those legacy vehicle owners in the FSD v12.5.4 (firmware version 2024.27.25) yesterday (refer to release notes below).

Another big improvement Tesla brought in the FSD v12.5.4 update is the addition of sunglasses to the vision-based attention monitoring system. This means that Tesla drivers can now wear sunglasses while supervising their vehicles during Autopilot FSD (Supervised) drives.

Disclaimer: It turns out that his wall charger was wired incorrectly, so mains voltage was wired to the ground of the vehicle, and well the chassis is the vehicle’s ground, hence the voltage. Source. Thanks @WalkingOnEggshells@beehaw.org for the correction.

I, too, would want to be camouflaged if I worked at Tesla.

Elon Musk has denied a report that one of his companies, Tesla, has discussed sharing revenue with another of his companies, xAI, so that it can use the startup’s AI models.

You’ll only need a dongle for old CCS charging stations.

Well, here’s a not-so-fun new twist in the search-and-seizure narrative. Car owners are being deprived of their vehicles just because cops think footage of a crime may have been captured by the car’s on-board cameras.

Maybe Hollywood can help smooth out Tesla’s rough edges.

It seems that the Ministry of Truth has been busy at Tesla. Some sharp-eyed folks, including reporters at Electrek, noticed that Tesla has deleted all of its blog posts prior to 2019. Those blog posts are a digital history of the company, covering everything from CEO Elon Musk’s original master plan, to the first Autopilot […]

It’s been more than a year since Tesla agreed to open its Supercharger network to electric vehicles from other automakers, like General Motors and Ford.

Interesting post I came across on !avs@futurology.today: https://futurology.today/post/2087579

There are rumours circulating that Tesla are having difficulty optimizing FSD supervised v12.5 for the Hardware 3 vehicles. I wonder if that hints that they think that true FSD (unsupervised) is possible only on vehicles with Hardware 4 or higher.

If this is the case, it seems like they are setting themselves up for a class-action lawsuit, and retroactively deleting the blog post doesn't change that.

Any ideas how they would resolve this? Retrofitting existing Hardware 3 vehicles may not be possible. Seems like the most realistic solution would be to offer FSD refunds to Hardware 3 owners, and/or allow FSD transfer to Hardware 4 vehicles.
