IMPORTANT SITE REMINDERS ARE LISTED AFTER THIS RANT (so please read all of it in order to find the rules >:3)

On this mega I shall take the opportunity to rant about one of my favorite things: the Webnovel UNJUST DEPTHS!

Do you love transgenders?

Do you love communism?

Do you love queer romance?

Do you love killing fascists in a giant fucking mech?

Would a plotline with all of these things happening in a underwater retro-futuristic gundam setting intrigue you?

Especially if its actually really well written with good characters, rich worldbuilding, and a marxist leninist transfem author?

All of the answers should be: YES I DO ~~or else I WILL BAN YOU~~

Since you obviously love all of those things then Unjust Depths is perfect for YOU yes YOU! It is DESTINY

The Imbrian Ocean is at a time of severe instability. The monarch of the vast Empire that spans its unjust depths (:3) is sick and nearing death, every territory of the ocean now vying to carve their own Destiny out of the chaos. From the Volk fascists pigmask-off , Zionists hamas-base (they literally will not die why are they still here oh my god), The 'Anarchists' (social chauvanists) lenin-dont-laugh in Bosporus, and the monarchs gui-trans of each vast noble domain, each vies for power and prestige no matter who they crush underfoot, but it would be a pretty depressing story without a bright light in the dark.

On the edge of the Empire sits the glorious Union! The (Soviet) Union soviet-chad is a socialist federation of three states (and one anarchist mountain left-unity-4 )that were formerly slave colonies under the Imbrian Empire until they broke away in a fierce liberation war. They have spent the last 20 years since then building themselves up. Whether they be Human bridget-disco , Shimmi kbity-how (Catgirls who usually follow a religion closely related to modern Islam), and Kattaran transshork-happy (a hybrid humanoid species with characteristics of sea life ranging from sharks to cuttlefish)building socialism side by side.

First lead under the revolutionary leader Dashka Kansal, then the Idealist Ahwalia who lead the country to near ruin in pursuit of building a utopia on pillars of sand, then under the scientific socialist three-heads-thinking leadership of the Grand Marshall of the Union, Bhavani Jayanskar (I love Jayanskar so much shes basically as if Stalin, Lenin, and Zhukov were rolled into the same person but was a black lesbian badass who wore the uniform REALLY WELL)(she aint the main character at all tho shes only in very few scenes i just love her so much). Under Jayanskar, the Union has been growing their economy to both eliminate hunger and give everyone a home chad-stalin , but also growing their military capabilities for the inevitable return of the Empire. The Union is alone, but with the people by its side nothing, not even Destiny, can snuff out true freedoms light. specter

As war wages between the Empire and Republic (basically underwater USA) once more over the lands between them, the facade begins to finally crack...

And a border conflict between the Empire and Union escalate, and the dreaded reconquest begins.

Amidst this turmoil, lives our main characters (yes there are multiple and all of them are lovely). Each of whom I personally love dearly, and are very well characterized. Many are soldiers of the Union, some are scientists, some are divers (mech pilots), some are lost strands finding new meaning after joining this band of Brigands

All are Communists steban

All serve the Union USSR

All would gladly give their lives to defending socialism comrade-stoic

but even they would have little inkling of the adventure set in store for them as the lands beneath the waves erupt in fire, fury, and revolt

Can these transgender badasses kick fascist ass?

Can they kiss? (oh my god please kiss ISTG THERE IS SO MUCH SHIPPING AHHHH ITS GLORIOUS)

this tbh!! i moved across in a train when i was young, it was a 3 day trip, read a lot of books lol, i also love ferries too of course

edit: i also love long bus rides too, the kind where it's like several hours and everyone gets a seat and it's super quiet

[โ€“] magi@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I used to get trains a lot, almost daily. But I love long journeys too. I've been on a few coaches before too and yeah nice when people are quiet c:

I used to get trains a lot, almosy daily.

based, i've been on trains/subways in a few cities across the country here, and I have specific thoughts about them all, haha. i used to commute for work in Big City but it was so crowded and transfers sucked and it would be hot and overwhelming, people all smell different...

But I love long journeys too. I've been on a few coaches before too and yeah nice when people are quiet c:

This! although when I was young on the 3 day train ride I uhhh got the flu and got sick in the dining car during supper one of the days, so I guess I was the not quiet one lol. I still remember the showers just having a hole for a drain and you could see the tracks going by underneath, and stopping deep in the mountains and walking around in the most beautiful scenery ever. I had my nose in Fellowship of the Ring, and then pretending I wasn't bored to tears of the Two Towers, so I don't remember much other than those two things.

edit: oh "coach" is bus apparently, well last one i rode on i tried to teach myself to speedrun Super Mario Odyssey lol. luckily it was night time so everyone was nice and quiet, but i had a laptop and my switch out

it is a treasured memory for me, i love trains in games as well i think for this reason. (I have a list of train games I liked in my head)

[โ€“] magi@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

crowded and transfers sucked

Yeah I much prefer it quiet or not super packed.

mountains and walking around in the most beautiful scenery ever.

I grew up in the country and love scenery and woods and stuff, I enjoy long walks and such cross country. So a huge pull of long journeys is the scenery.
I have walked around a bird sanctuary too that was great and through gardens that had a tropical butterfly house.

I haven't played many train games funnily enough, I love eurotruck 2 for the long journeys you can plan and take especially when you mod it to have a huge map lol is super relaxing (can use crusie control lol)

apologies if this reply is too long.

100%!

oh waow, that sounds really nice! the last place i loved had a nice park nearby with little fountains and trees, but here is very urban and to get to the nice quiet bike trail requires going through the busiest intersection in the suburb, so it's difficult to get out. once we get there though, there's an unused (:sicko-sad: (i never remember the name of this one)) rail line and the traffic noise disappears, but ... i'm scared of e-bikes lol they go really fast and last time a people don't like ring bells before passing you close here, sucks (i do also wish i had one)

I would probably be into long walks if I didn't have feet problems lol, if I'm standing for any length of time more than like 20 minutes the pain starts to set in. Physical jobs are torture for me, my last moving around job was me taking painkillers all day just to get through.

I haven't played many train games funnily enough, I love eurotruck 2 for the long journeys you can plan and take especially when you mod it to have a huge map lol is super relaxing (can use crusie control lol)

oh yeah, I've been trying to get Safe Partner into trucking games since it seems like his jam, but he's not really taken the plunge yet (he just got some new board games so he's excited about that right now), but I'll send him your post, might give him that chill feeling he's looking for. He tried out Space Trucker this week but didn't get into it, there was very little tutorial and so he was a bit lost trying to back up a trailer in 3d space lol (probably way harder than 2d at first)

woops i should get in the shower soon, but here's some trains in games I liked in case you want to read a mini-infodump lol

  • Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (original version) is the closest feeling to the three-day train ride from my childhood in a video game that I've ever experienced. I like the tiny drama and closed spaces haha.
  • Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a vn with a non-binary character who is super fucking cool i love them omg i want to marry them and be them waow i could go on (also you can hold their hand eeeeeee) (I actually love all of the main characters eventually, once they're actually introduced) and it starts out with a train murder mystery. I do feel that it needs to be said at this point that there were no murders on my actual childhood train ride, but the drama on train feels emotionally true. Aside, I did enjoy this game a lot, it's always raining in the ward where the game takes place, and there are so many spots you can just fucking stop and just enjoy the sounds and visuals of the rain (i love rain, mixed feelings about being in it irl, depends on the day and temperature). There's one spot up on a mountain and you can see down into the city too ... wow this needs its own post, just like everything I talk about. It's got some anime tropes though, and it's very clumsy about handling the revolutionary group in the game, but there's one moment with the silly oversexualized death god that actually just felt so real that I repeat this one line whenever I'm frustrated lol (I don't have my laptop set up for typing Japanese at the moment, and don't want to spoil any more, since it's a mystery VN).
  • Transport Fever 2, this is like a 3D remake of OpenTTD which is an open-source remake of Transport Tycoon. You can build train lines, and since it's in 3D you can ride them back and forth, and can build production lines and stuff by connecting existing factories. Like all city-builders that aren't Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic, money is the main constraint (boring) but at least you can't just plop down a sawmill, you can only link together existing places.
  • Persona 5 starts off with you navigating Tokyo train lines (I got very lost). Safe Partner, who has actually been to Shibuya, helped me get through it lol. It's a brief section, but it was easily the coolest opening to a game ever.

apologies if this reply is too long.

no apologies, never too long! c:

people don't like ring bells before passing you close

Yeah get people just quietly go past at times which is dangerous atound me because I have bad spacial awareness lol I'm always worried about knocking into someone for that. Wish they had bike lanes or something.

taking painkillers all day just to get through.

I'm sorry that can suck, I have chronic pain which can flare up though some exercise can relieve it somewhat. I do have a high pain tolerance though some pain lingers ecen with that, I relate to the pain relief to get through it.

trucking games

There is a demo to be able to try ^^

here's some trains in games

Nice little list, more trains than I was aware of.

it's puzzling to me, i would normally call myself hyper-perceptive (wow rude spell check wanting to replace that with "hypersensitive" i don't like that word at all lol), but when this happened last bike ride i was completely caught off guard because i didn't hear the person at all. i had to stop and i was legit scared for a bit, couldn't really enjoy the ride after.

ngl, i kinda wish e-bikes had their own place to go due to this, i was pretty reactionary about them for a while until the struggle sessions here which i listened in on. i am glad they exist and that they're getting cars off the road but i wish people would be more considerate.

yeah it's confusing to me - i had some surgeries when i was young to fix a birth defect, i have a really high pain tolerance in some ways, but the aching in my heels if i use a treadmill at all or stand too long is just so intolerable in a way i can't describe, even if it doesn't hurt a lot.

There is a demo to be able to try ^^

oh sweet i will tell him this

Nice little list, more trains than I was aware of.

:) thank you for reading!!

[โ€“] magi@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

more considerate.

This is the underlying problem with society, a lot of people aren't considerate of others, for a vast many things and this is one example of many.

the aching in my heels if i use a treadmill at all or stand too long is just so intolerable in a way i can't describe

Yeah I have some idea, I can tolerate a lot but the aches and pains are there even with high pain tolerance, some days it's really bad depending on weather and such too.

thank you for reading!!

You're welcome! I enjoyed the little infodump c:

oh yes! the weather is a big thing, usually have to call in sick with aches and pains at least one day in the fall
