Short distances yes, but not when thrown from a helicopter! ๐Ÿš

I think they'd be okay. Most of the way down would be gliding, which they're good at, and they'd really only have to flap a bit near the ground, which is how they normally fly.

Turkeys get up into trees; they won't be migrating by wing, but they're not land-bound.

What really surprised me was learning that peacocks fly, too.

The zoo where I grew up has roaming peacocks since they escaped decades ago and have since just been kinda chilling around the zoo and surrounding neighborhood since.

Edit: should add that the lore of their escape is the original enclosure was built on the assumption that they didn't fly, might not be true but makes for a story at least.

Wild turkeys maybe. Doubtful about those bred for food.

You're probably right; however, wild turkeys looks surprisingly plump and edible.

I happen to dislike turkey, myself, but those turkeys don't appear particularly athletic, but they're certainly up there.

Those are some impressive looking birds! I've crossed the street to avoid one on the sidewalk, I can't imagine being attacked by one swooping from a tree.

I don't know why but these three pictures together gives me Pablo Escobar Waiting energy.
