Gretchen Whitmer responds to calls by some Democrats to vote ‘uncommitted’ in Michigan’s primary on Tuesday

Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan governor, pushed back on calls to not vote for Joe Biden over his handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict, saying on Sunday that could help Trump get re-elected.

“It’s important not to lose sight of the fact that any vote that’s not cast for Joe Biden supports a second Trump term,” she said on Sunday during an interview on CNN’s State of the Union. “A second Trump term would be devastating. Not just on fundamental rights, not just on our democracy here at home, but also when it comes to foreign policy. This was a man who promoted a Muslim ban.”

Whitmer, who is a co-chair of Biden’s 2024 campaign, also said she wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to the protest vote.

Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat who is the only Palestinian-American serving in Congress, urged Democrats last week to vote “uncommitted” in Michigan’s 27 February primary.

Democrats 2024: Forget about a world that should be

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's too late for you to fix shit in this election that you didn't give a fuck about a month ago. As if any of you gave a fuck about Palestine before the news told you to

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You can't justify supporting genocide, so you attack those who oppose it.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nobody opposes it, that's the issue stupid. You have no good choices

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nobody opposes it

People who support genocide can't imagine anyone actually opposing it.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Name which 2024 political candidate opposes it. I'll wait.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You said nobody, now it's "neither person in this set of these two people."

You have a two party system you dummy, you only get the two. Just how y'all like it.

Truth is, you don't oppose genocide, just the Israeli state. If you opposed genocide you would have all been yelling this loud for years about Yemen and China, but you didn't cause you don't actually care unless you're news sources tell you to care or when you can use your pretense as a way to peddle hate against a people you dislike

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I oppose genocide. You do nothing but support it.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Lol I do nothing but... Cause you know me. No I just survived an American genocide, one that CNN didn't cover so none of you gave a fuck about. If anything you cheered while your army killed my people. You loved your genocides. I despise your hypocrisy. It's easy to call out the crimes of other nations while ignoring the ones for continue to commit yourself.

I despise you Americans, I wish your country death, and that's on you. And now you cry for the same people you despised a decade ago, while forgetting about all the misery you caused my people.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago

So... you hate America because they committed genocide, therefore they should continue supporting this genocide. That's exactly as good of a justification for Biden's support for Netanyahu's genocide as all the others I've heard. Which is to say it's utter shit.

We shouldn't be in the genocide business. We should stop.

Now please, tell me I don't care about genocide while you support an ongoing genocide that I oppose.
