It is advised to brush your teeth at least twice a day, but when? Just before bed is a gimme because you're about to lie mostly still for 6+ hours. Best to not leave food particles to fester.

What's the best time for an earlier brushing? After breakfast? After lunch? After work/school?

Plus, what's up with TV and movies having breakfast scenes where they get up and head right out the door? Did they already brush and now they're going to leave food to fester all day? Eww.

Before bed and right before I go to work. I also floss my teeth at least twice a day(typically 10 min after eating and just before brushing) and use mouthwash at least twice a day(typically after brushing).

When my teeth feel gross (fuzzy slippers) or my breath is kicking. Yes I am gross.

Bad teeth run in my family. Most of them had false teeth as adults

I brush when I wake up, after lunch, at dinner and before bed. If I eat something during the day, I also brush.

Typically, I brush and floss before bed. In the morning, I will rinse my mouth out to get a lot of the bacteria from overnight out of my mouth.

If I have the energy, I will brush about an hour after my morning snack and caffeine.

If I don't have the energy, I will rinse my mouth out after breakfast.

I find rinsing my mouth out, while not as good as brushing, really helps freshen up my mouth.

Evening: floss, fluoride mouthwash, 2 minute electric brush routine.

Morning: fluoride mouthwash and quick manual brush.

So, I try and be thorough in the evening and then try a quick pass in the morning to knock off any film and get some fluoride in there.

My dentist recommends not using mouth wash. Ever.

Any particular reason why? I could understand it not being particularly effective but not sure it could be seen as harmful.
