Hello everyone. Sorry I didn't post this last week. I was overwhelmed by events and forgot. Anyway, I've been playing lots of balatro and Nightreign for the past 2 weeks. I hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend

I started Dragon Quest 1 on the NES the other day, it's the first Dragon Quest I've played. I picked it because I was curious about it since it's a game that had such a massive impact on console RPGs, and also because redditors said it was a bad choice to start with it and I will always do the opposite of what redditor gamers say. It's pretty cool, doesn't feel too crusty for being such an old game. Pretty basic but that's what I was expecting and not bad. I was surprised the game has a built in turbo, why isn't every game doing that?? Fucked up that modern RPGs are making me mash A through text boxes when this game from 1986 doesn't.

I'm also playing around in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 a little bit because they butchered it in the 3 + 4 remake and it annoyed me enough to go download the original and set it up lol. I'm not gonna do another full playthrough but it's nice to scratch the itch a little.

I think playing the first three Dragon Quest games in order is the way to go because of how the mechanics play out. In DQ1, you control a single character and often fight enemies 1v1. In 2, you have a caster, warrior, and a hybrid who fight multiple enemies. In 3, you get to build your party from a multitude of classes and characters.

There's some other tropes and things introduced across the first three games gradually as well. Stuff like cursed items, metal slimes, and so on. It's been a long ass time since I played 1 & 2. Been thinking about picking up the DQ3 Remaster (which is like the second or third time it's been remastered lol).

Yeah I think playing 1 through 3 is my plan. I've seen a little bit of footage of the DQ3 Remaster, it looks pretty nice! I haven't really liked the visual style of the HD-2D games but I like the look of DQ3 for some reason. I think it's that the way they handle the lighting and shaders looks more appealing to me. I know DQ1 and 2 are getting the same treatment soon as well so that's pretty cool.

Mostly Warframe, also picked up Noita and Total War Three Kingdoms though so got a few hours in each. Noita is... very difficult to figure out. I think I just need to explore more, but I also installed the Spell Lab mod for some help in figuring out the basics and tbh I don't think it helped much lol

I have been playing 7 Days to Die again after a very long break. They recently put out a free "version 2" which changes some of the mechanics with biomes. I have been digging it.
