This is unusual. Adding tickets to wallets is always optional. You should have an email with all the information or at least something to show in the app directly.

When getting the Deutschlandticket from HVV for example, you can opt for a physical card, not needing any app at all. Very convenient.

I had a deal with my last employer: instead of them handling everything and giving me a code for the app, I ordered the ticket directly from HVV and they payed me the part of it that otherwise would be payed by them directly.

Maybe your local public transport provider has a physical card, too, and this could be a valid option then?

There could be an additional value being calculated in when using the app-based ticket, maybe based on time. A screenshot would be static and producing either invalid or wrong results.

They are usually just .pkpass files, so any app that can show them should work. Most likely the "Hinzufügen zu Google Wallet" link will also work since it just links to the pkpass file. But be prepared to get asked if it is a screenshot a lot. I am using passandroid (further down this thread) and it works.

Is there a reason not to get it via the db app?

i have the d-ticket as a plastic card, maybe ask at the office of your local public transport wether thats still a possibility.

besides that, you should be able to add the ticket to the DB navigator app, although looking at the reviews on the google play store, that doesnt seem ideal either. maybe the app of your local public transport offers this functionality and is better maintained

Back then, I was able to download a file (also from ride-ticketing.de) I could then open in any wallet app. Try to see if that's still an option.

I think the "no screenshots" rule is so that you don't share your ticket with others via screenshot. In my experience it's not strictly enforced though - if they can see that the ticket is valid and is yours, they'll usually allow it.
