Even having done professional mail hosting for years at one point in my sysadmin career, I still think paid email hosting is worth it even for those with the skills to stand it up themselves, at least for any inbox that might see actual important communication.

The reliable infrastructure, and the reputation management demands on a self-hosters time are a tough sell, when the cost to make it someone else's problem is comparatively low. :D

Solely to let the TV's auto configuration and discovery pick it up and customize the inputs automatically. But you're right, it's not actually necessary to power everything on.

It'd feel a bit gross if so, considering they were coerced in to saying it by the terms of the settlement.

What's more, Discord clearly wasn't intended to be used like this at the start. The 100-server limit on a Discord account ensures the user has to curate the servers they join, at least to some degree.

The only way to join more servers than that is to start using the higher-tier paid Nitro plan, or get comfortable running multiple Discord accounts.

Exactly this. I understand the cynicism, but it ultimately doesn't matter what the motivation of a company walking back a poor decision is. We take the chance for mutual collaboration and hopefully everyone benefits.

On an individual level, that's when people can evaluate if they still want to boycott and do whatever their own moral compass demands. But refusing to work together at this point just means we definitely don't get the chance in the future to steer things in a better direction.
