Hello fellow Bloom County fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

Bloom County is an American comic strip by Berkeley Breathed which originally ran from December 8, 1980, until August 6, 1989. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in Middle America, where children often have adult personalities and vocabularies and where animals can talk. On July 12, 2015, Breathed started drawing Bloom County again. The first revived strip was published via Facebook on July 13, 2015... Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_County

Looks like Berkeley took this day off back in 1980. I guess we can cut him some slack since the comic had only been running for a couple of weeks and he was still getting his feet under him. Matter of fact, why not support him by purchasing a cool Opus mug or something else!

New comic tomorrow and here's the link to his website/store... https://www.berkeleybreathed.com/new-products-1

Sorry everyone for posting this out of order. Somehow I got my dates screwed up on the last few starting on the 14th, but with this one we'll be back on track.

Opus cuddling a melon crayon. I ganked this from social media and look at the crisp perfection of this strip at least a couple times a year. Hope you enjoy.

My way of commemorating Day One

If you don’t know about Bloom County it’s a comic strip that ran the decade of the 80s (1980-1989). It was one of my favorites as a kid and though some of it will surely be dated, the majority should hold up well to current times. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in Middle America, where children often have adult personalities and vocabularies and where animals can talk.

A note about how I post the comic strips… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day they were released originally, hence Bloom County will start December 8. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the daily newspaper for first time. Many moons ago and wayyy before the internet, newspapers were the pretty much the internet’s equivalent. I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

If you’re a Bloom County fan or if you’ve never seen it, please give it a try and sub to the community, you can always unsub if you don’t like it.
