Hey,

Here is the link of the video from Louis Rossmann talking about this subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfcoUdWCB9M

To get more info about this removal and how it affects digital ownership of books: https://wiki.rossmanngroup.com/index.php?title=Amazon_Kindle_removes_download_feature_of_purchased_books

Some old Kindle devices, still perfectly working in terms of hardware to read books on them, will very soon become (almost) complete ewaste.

We did not accept this when Spotify stopped supporting their car thing, how can we tolerate now that Amazon creates more ewaste ? This new removal serves only right holders and creates a regression for all real, loyal and existing customers.

Spread this video and the FUTO wiki as much as you can matey', to support the cause for a better world where we can actually own what we buy.

What do you think about this ? Right now, the only available alternative is the gigantic existing archive of de-DRM'ed books available online, but how do you think it is going to evolve if DRMs become too difficult to crack ?

Also, it does mean more importantly (outside piracy) that self-archiving will be very tedious or impossible. How can we trust a book reading device if it can auto-update the content of the books from the Internet without any kind of notification to agree to the changes made by the publisher ? It is worrying and will extend to all cultural materials if there's no cultural backslash towards these anti-consumer practices.

We're all concerned

Original Title: Unlocked PS4 now has FPKGi, a "store" that allows you to download games and homebrews in pkg format directly from the console, as is already possible on the PS3. Completely open source project, managed by the community!

I would like to use a vpn and I see that Proton is highly recommended from the mega thread.

I rarely pirate stuff (mainly just downloading content from piracy sites).

Is using the free version fine?

I wanted to download some Egyptian movie from the 90s but it's nowhere to be found on the torrenting sites. Then I went to find a claymation short I saw from 2016, which I can't find either. This is usually the case with the Arabic language movies I want to watch so is there a specific place for them?

Hello,

I have searched quite a bit, but couldn't find any, so I'm here looking for music app.

I know I can download music from torrents and then use any music player, but for movies and anime there are things like stremio, miru, amyiomi, etc. that streams videos directly from torrents or other servers and they are pretty easy and convenient to use.

Is there anything like these but for music?

at this time what's the best device I can use for streaming either from my phone or computer to a TV?

don't worry for stuff like realdebrid and what not, because I live in a country with no piracy laws so I don't really have to worry about it

I just need the device, the only one I have at the moment is an old gen 2 Chromecast and yeah, maybe it's time for an upgrade

I don't want the top S tier budget thing, but I don't want the cheapest one necessarily, preferably something that works with torrentio and similar services, but that also let me easily stream media from my phone and such

I've been tinkering for the past year on and off with my homelab to get a media server up and running. Currently, I have an Asustor NAS that I purchased which stores all my media, and Jellyfin running in a docker container on the NAS. I'm using a reverse proxy (running on a separate pi) to point my dns to the jellyfin for remote access. I then have a separate, old windows desktop that I converted to do all my torrenting, but it saves everything onto the NAS. The reason I set it up this way was to have my torrents running through my VPN client (protonvpn) while the rest of the media streaming/playing/etc could be done direct. The NAS does not support split-tunnelling for a VPN connection, so I thought this would be the next best option for what I had on hand. Up until now, this has worked out for me locally. Now that I have started diving into remote access with the dream of sharing it with family, and allowing them to request content to add onto the server/etc, I'm looking to expand.

Just in the past day or two, I've started looking into all the arr's. I started with Sonarr and installed the windows client on the same machine as where I download my torrents. One of the first steps in that configuration is to set the "root folder", which looks like it is required to be on the same machine. According to the sonarr documentation, "This is the folder where your series and episodes are stored for your media player to play them. It is NOT where you download files to!" To me, those are one and the same. But I've also been unsure on the concept of torrents and seeding. Does moving the media file from the .parts file kill the seed? Or is that just something else I need to configure? (Using qbittorrent, btw.)

So I guess my question is if someone could help me understand the best practices for setting all this up? Is it best to download everything to a temporary "downloads" folder, and then manually (or do the arr's automate this?) move the media files to the NAS where they are played from? And then follow up question, does that mean the arr's should be installed on my NAS and not from where the torrenting is done so that the "root folder" can be selected on the NAS directories? I'm totally prepared for someone to say this is the worst implementation they've ever seen. Open to any and all suggestions from small config changes to redesigning my entire homelab architecture. Thanks!

I apologize if this isn't an appropriate sub to ask this question. I'm seeking reputable Android TV sports apks that are specialized for piracy. Any suggestions or recommendations are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Let's get this out of the way first: Don't worry, piracy is perfectly legal where I'm from (at least downloading is, uploading is still illegal). I'm not doing anything illegal.

It's a absolutely disgusting tactic. It's not "advanced access" for those that pay premium, it's "delayed access" for those that don't. You can't make me pay 75.- and then go "oh that's not enough, you'll have to wait to play the game".

Starting from now I'll pirate all games that have advanced access in order to boycott this stupid tactic. (And then buy it on GOG when it releases there because GOG is amazing)

I know there has been a couple of posts about the changes amazon is pushing, but I wanted the share the opinions of Louis Rossman on the subject and the wiki he is starting to build.,

I have never bught an amzn or audible book, so I am no so familiar with their ecosystem ways. His description is kind of 1984esque. He even jokes about it.

And I hadn't though that not being able to download the book means that it can be changed after the purchase. He goes on some detail on that feature too.

It does sounds like enshittification to me.

Cheers!

I downloaded a season of a show off of torrent leech. I have tried to seed it but whenever I try to set location my whole computer freezes. Any advice on how to remove this torrent from my hard drive?

I want to revisit some storyline of childhood (2000s), but soaps don't tend to make it to Netflix sadly. I prefer streaming to downloading, since I don't fully trust myself not to accidentally nuke my computer. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Ive been searching for a VPN to torrent on and to use for other things as well. I’ve red that mullvad is good, but it’s price is more expensive than Proton VPN for 2 years plan and it also doesn’t support port forwarding anymore apparently. Many people say that it is great of you use all of the Proton services, however I am really only interested in the VPN part. Is Proton worth getting (currently at about 90€ for 2 years) or is there another good all around VPN that’s worth looking into.

Hey guys,

Installed Adobe Acrobat Pro from monkrus' w16-site. Used the ru tracker.

About a minute after I opened the file and ran the ISO my CPU, GPU, memory and data transfer was maxed out.

Used Malwarebyte and it caught a couple trojan coinminers and PUPs and all that. Quarantined and deleted the files.

Used about five other antivirus programs to scan, even did a rootdrive scan, but nothing more showed up. System still maxed out though. Did a recovery point reset but something is still here.

RIP? Change all passwords everywhere and total wipe, or what do you recommend?
