No idea where else to ask this, so I'll throw it here.

I've noticed when I look up movies, that a lot of them now can exceed 50GB, especially for 2K / 4K.

But what I don't get, is that I'm seeing this with movies from 2001. Why is a movie from 2001, 40GB. Was AI used to re-size the video? And how effective even is that, because I've seen a few "enhanced" videos, and they look like someone used a Photoshop filter on them, not good at all.

Is their any benefit to getting those larger files vs smaller?

Just to re-affirm, I'm referring more to older movies. Obviously new movies come in much higher detail.

It says the resolution on it is 3840 x 2160. But again, this is a movie from 2001, so how beneficial is that much of a resize. Because it seems like at that resize, it would start to really distort the frames.

Yet I notice the frames are 23.976 fps, which to me seems like that is where you'd want to improve. But then again, I'm not sure what technology is available for movies, and to increase frames, you'd have to add frames to keep the movie at the same length / normal speed.

I'm Seeding my private tracker torrents with deluge on Windows. The problem is that when I shutdown or reboot my computer, it doesn't send stop notification to the private trackers and the torrents are still active. If I start the computer again soon, I have ghost peers for all of my torrents. How do I fix it and make send stop notification to the private trackers before it's shut down?

Note: Deluge on windows doesn't have a checkbox to start automatically when Windows starts, I had to add a task in task scheduler to do it.

I finished reading a book recently and when logging into Library Genesis I find out not only my usual mirror is down, most of them are and the few that work don't have direct download links, instead, request links you have to paste on their Discord so a bot grants you a link... that doesn't work either because their servers are saturated.

Anna's Archive free downloads are also saturated, and none I've tried were working.

In their subreddit r/libgen the word is the zuckerborg has been hoarding/collapsing all their traffic to train his AI model, Llama, at the expense of others.

Really dystopian take on all this. I have almost a decade religiously downloading a book each 1 or 2 months only to find, yet again, another megacorporation, is enshittifying something I like.

Where can I pirate knowledge now?

So I usually use the-eye, but for at least two days now it has not loaded and I am starting to get worried that it is not coming back. Much like the Trove back in the day. Does anyone have other sites? FYI the reason I need a site isn't so much for myself but for my players. I have downloaded the books long ago. But I need an easy access source for my players, especially my less tech savvy players.

So there is this game I play on my phone called Cytus 2, and a while ago I bought DLC for it, but have since lost it and support does not help at all, my question is, from using a cracked copy of the game, is there anyway I can transfer ALL the dlc (including ones I never bought) to the files of the main application from the play store? What was the first game You personally pirated (downloaded)? Which thoughts and feelings went through Your head? How long did it take to download and over which connection?

For me it was Heretic over 56k modem. IIRC the size was 10MB give or take. In reality it took several hours and connection dropped a few times. Did it at night when my parents were asleep, sweat pouring and heart pounding, constantly glaring at the screen. Downloaded off an shady FTP server.

There is a thing that happens to me on every movie website - which kinda points that there's something wrong with me or my device.

So to not overdue - the "thing" is that when I start watching something it will pause at a random moment and load on loop. My internet is more than fine, I've tested literally everything - all adblocks/antivirus/proxy/VPN OFF - incognito, different browser and plenty of different movie websites from FMHY, and plenty of different streaming sources - the issue repeats itself over and over.

Idk what else can I do, nothing seems to be fucking working, there're no options left

AND - also let me clear one thing right away, as I know the comments about any movie-related subject will flood with "Stremio" - I don't personally feel ok with using it, as great and amazing as it is it also caries some risks, I'm non-tech so I don't want to deal with all of that, and the security of trying to stay under the radar, don't bash me for it pls xd

Once in a while I'll watch a TV series or a movie, all I need is a basic website that I can chromecast on my TV but yeah xd hundreds of options to choose from and the fate decided that nope, none of those hundred options will work for you xD

Cannot finish my god damn dinner as one episode will stop within 15-20 minutes. When I'll wait a few hours it sort of lets me to watch 10-20 minutes again - until it stops and loads on loop again

I've been thinking of alternatives such as the one mentioned on the question, just getting a firestick and installing stremio or whatever option you guys recommend to make it easier. Is it really worth it or should I continue the way I'm doing it.
