I've tired installing adrenaline, but couldn't get it to work. I've tired installing ccc2 but that gives a error after launching. Any easier way to get something similar to vibrant deck on widows SD? Thanks!

I’m just a little confused with need Rufus to create a windows 11 iso because if it acts like a normal pc, wouldn’t you just need to download the windows media to a flash drive and then once you plug it in you can just select windows 11 home to start initializing on the unallocated space? Also why would you need to do this for SteamOS as well? Can’t you just put the recovery media on a flash drive without using Rufus?

So I’m going to upgrade to 1TB SSD internal storage, and I want to have SteamOS and windows 11 on it. Before installing both operating systems should I load up the Steam recovery and make 2 partitions, one for SteamOS and one for windows 11? And then install SteamOS first and then once that’s done install windows 11? Also when installing SteamOS would it let me select which partition I want to use similar to how windows allows you to select it?

I’m considering putting windows on an SSD so I can play some of my games that just won’t work on SteamOS. I have a few questions with doing this. Do most people use their actual windows Microsoft account or do people just make a local account? I have a gaming PC that I mostly use and I’m not sure what would be the best way about setting this up if it is recommended not to use your actual account. Also why do you need to make rufus list it as windows to go, what is the difference between that and the standard version? Does it have less features?

I followed the following guide: , which TLDR installs windows on a partition of a drive, on a steam deck which already has steamOS installed.

My issue is whilst I used the steam recovery image to partition the drive, I never actually installed steamOS. I've now spent the better part of a day tinkering and fixing up windows to work well on deck, only to now be faced with the prospect of losing all that progress.

Right now I have a 320gb-ish partition containing my windows install, and about 650gb unallocated. Is there any way at all I can simply install steamOS to this other partition? Or if not, can I possibly clone my existing windows install and "paste" it back into a new partition if I have to wipe everything with steamOS?

Thanks!

tried all usual USB options within windows but on Windows at least the Deck cant power my Samsung T7 anymore and crashes once it starts loading anything. Anything else I can change perhaps within the registery to resolve this issue ? Im willing let the battery drain quicker if there is some setting to stop it from cutting out.

It's that time of the month for me to randomly consider going back to SteamOS.

I have no issues or qualms with Windows, I just have this thought every now and then. I tinker with my games a lot on Windows. Adding mods and stuff like that. I also play some Xbox 360 games. Last time I went back to SteamOS, I couldn't even get Puzzle Fighter to work on SteamOS so hoping that there are some improvements there. I also play some quacked games, which was hit or miss before. Just wondering if at this point it would be better to switch to SteamOS. Or at the very least dualboot. I especially miss being able to take clips of my gameplay since GameBar is useless on Windows on Deck.

I bought the Jsaux dock with a Display- and a HDMI port, so I can use two monitors with my Steam Deck (I am needing it currently to work on something). Initially, I had some trouble setting it up. Now, it works as expected, however, the main small display of the SD is always off, docked or undocked, so I can't use it for handheld gaming anymore. If I go into the Windows display settings, it's as if the main display wouldn't exist... I already reinstalled the APU-driver and restarted, but nothing happened. Can someone help me out?

Thanks!

So today I went ahead and got FL Studio running on my deck. My end goal is to play and record my guitar through FL Studio on steam deck but I'll need ASIO as well as all my other plug ins I use on my PC.

I have a 1tb SD, should I just install Windows on it to make everything easier going forward?

Hello, I installed Windows 11 on the Steam Deck, and I've been trying various ways to use the gyro feature of Steam Input with Game Pass games, but without success.

Does anyone know how to do it?

Hey peeps,

This time it is my turn to ask something I was wondering if it was possible to set the LED as "ON" when the deck is actually turned on.

Sometimes mine is just sitting on the table, screen's off but it is a actually still working and when the fan is very quiet I just forget to turn it off...

Doable in the BIOS or via a soft on Windows?

If you are playing Armored Core VI and you are struggling with FPS in Windows. Try disabling SMT in SteamDeck Tools. Works great.

Just to be clear I am NOT talking about installing windows on my SD. I have both windows and steam OS on my NVME SSD.

I have a 1tb SD card for extra storage, right now it's used by windows, but I'd really like to split it between file systems. Is there a way make a partition for windows, and also another partition that steamOS will recognize and install games to?

Thanks so much

I used the official win11 image on the Microsoft website.

All drivers were downloaded from steam support page.

Some XGP games such as Halo MCC, Fallout 4, Fallout 76 suffer from a resolution problem where in-game settings display a native 1280×800 in exclusive fullscreen mode, while the game runs in a much lower resolution (looks like 960×600 or lower), even the game UI and RTSS overlay displayed a much lower resolution. Windowed borderless mode doesn't have this problem.

Other games such as Gears 5, The Evil Within, Halo Infinite, Persona 5, Forza Horizon 4 and 5, Rainbow Six Siege don't suffer from similar problem (one can tell the difference from either the 3D graphic of the in-game overlay).

I found a solution of running games in windowed borderless mode in , but that seems to be a temporary solution to me.

Another solution is disable fullscreen optimization. But since these are all XGP games, the property of the game shortcuts don't provide compatibility tab at all.

So I would like to ask if there are solution this situation? Please give me some advice. Thank you!

Below are some presentation of blurry and crisp game graphics.

A screenshot for Fallout76, with in-game setting as 1280×800 while looks like 960×600

Gears 5 screenshot, with a crisp image presentation of 1280×800

Forza Horizon 5, 1280×800, great image quality

looks like i will spend a bunch of time in Sea of Stars!

Love the graphics, the Chrono Trigger vibes and the story is engaging!

Steam Deck can easily play it too!

Am tempted to do a shell swap, and while at it, the Deck HD screen. Has anyone tried this screen on Windows yet?

I know I'd need the new bios, but other than that, I'd expect Windows to just pick it up at the new resolution, but hoping someone can confirm for sure.

Taki did a review, looks like it would be worth it for the colours alone:
