I recently joined MS and let me just say i am feeling low. Maybe i am overthinking, maybe it’s like this for everyone but the team looks kinda busy as they have a big deliverable due next month, and no one is having time to sit and explain stuff. The documentation is also kinds old and not upto date which is adding to my trouble. How should i navigate? I think i should just relax and go with the flow, learn about the org and new language but then i am also thinking i should not be sitting ideal for this long (it has been 2weeks). Maybe everyone else is smarter than me and they had it all figured out on their 4th day..?

I was defrauded after following a link for discounts in the Microsoft Weather app built in to W10.

The link I followed from Weather led to a food network offer for free Omaha Steaks. I filled it in, added my CC for shipping, and it said my card was declined. Then I looked up at the URL and was mortified that I, a savvy dude, have become elderly and fallen for a stupid scam. Mortifying.

I went to straight to chase.com and disabled the card. 10 minutes later I get a text from Chase asking if I had made a $5 purchase at kids toys world...

I got in touch with Microsoft to tell them this, figuring it would alarm them. Instead I chatted with a CS who said that Microsoft is not responsible for those ads, and I should not click on them. The ads in the weather widget built-in to the OS...

I expressed my concern that other doofuses like me will be scammed via ads on their product. She suggested I submit a suggestion for the developers and gave me contact info for them.

The responses were just gobsmacking. Basically: our product can be dangerous, so you have to be careful.

I get online ad serving, I worked in that field for a few years. Third party ad servers can do whatever they want. It's up to their clients to accept that or not. If it were my company I would want to be assured the ads I'm serving my precious customers aren't fraudulent and illegal. Instead, MS suggests we be careful while using their OS as some ads may be fraudulent.

I can’t seem to get over this feeling that MSFT leadership just simply stopped caring about keeping employees happy. Before the pandemic, it at least felt like they were trying. After the lack of merit increases it really felt like they just stopped trying at all.

“I think OpenAI, by any objective measure, has been one of the most consequential partners Microsoft has ever had, and Microsoft has had some really good partners,” said Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer Kevin Scott during an interview at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference on Tuesday. Scott also hinted at a new artificial intelligence (AI) model or product to be released before the end of the year: “Let me just say, the work has not stopped at GPT-4.”

Just received an email that Microsoft would be extending an offer. They want me to setup a call with them to go specifically over compensation and benefits.

My wife is pregnant and we are expecting the baby to arrive around late Dec 2024. I was planning to take part of my bonding leave as early as Jan 2025 with my current company.

In my discussion with them, I’m planning to ask them explicitly about healthcare benefits and what insurance providers they work with. I don’t plan on disclosing that I’m expecting a baby. Should I disclose this information ?

Does Microsoft have a waiting period like a year in some companies (my wife’s company does have it) before an employee can avail paid bonding leave ?

Anything else I should consider with respect to benefits in my current situation ? Pardon my ignorance, this is my first job change in the US.

Curious to see what others think here. There has been a lot of content on this sub that aren't what I'm looking for, and another redditor pointed out wouldn't be found on /r/apple or other tech company subs.

I am not sure how to create a poll so I suppose vote in the comments :) Just for fun, I am not a mod.

Thank you all for helping me throughout my journey with the HireRight situation with my high school not verifying my diploma for over almost 2 months. I have some great news. I just received the email from HR stating that they’re gonna coordinate with my recruiter to get my start date since i went out and got myself a GED to verify my Education. To all the people that were tired of me posting updates I apologize and to all those who assisted me and guided me through it I really appreciate the support.
