Warframe discussion

Vauban. Really unique place as the premier ability nuker "CC frame". Also great weapon support via his passive, which functions as damage vulnerability... which means double dip status and triple dip influence on enemies caught in his CC effects. Also an amazing Duviri frame as Flechette Orb scales off decree count. Only real weakness is a lack of radiation or decoy to distract Overguard enemies.

Atlas. He punches good. Great for new players as he's one of the tiny handful of frames with knockback immunity, albeit with the restriction that he must be grounded to enjoy it. Hell on the fingers due to the ability spam if you choose to play him as a Landslide spammer, but he has other cool playstyles that are more oriented to CC and weapon support. Has the only loot ability that scales off power strength and can be triggered by a weapon (Gorgon family with Metamorphic Rounds).

Equinox. I hate you, I love you, I'm not fine!!! (As the song goes). If you ignore the concept of a shapeshifting two-frames-in-one package deal, Equinox has some cool stuff! Mend provides an infinite loop to fuel Empowered Blades spam, which I highly recommend in this day and age of Melee Influence. Maim is a nuke that scales off your and your team's KPM so you're KPMier! Peaceful Provocation gives Night an okay slow (5x) to stack with Cold effects or Gloom, and bumps Day to an honestly really impressive +80% power strength for allies. Calm & Frenzy lets her 2 propagate, turning into a roadblock with Rest or a directional Speed Prime with Rage. The bad thing is she's hamstrung by the worst multi-attribute dependency of any frame, needing high efficiency, strength, and range... so... good luck. Or just play her as a nuker and forget all the troubles.

Wukong. The speedy speed boy himself! Very well-rounded kit, with CC, a nuke in Defy, a speed ability, high survivability... yeah, there's a reason he's one of the big three frames. That said, almost nothing Wukong does you can't do on other frames with arcanes and incarnons. Retains a niche with Hildryn as one of the best Perspicacity users for sorties, nightmares, archon hunts, etc. Once you've learned vault layouts from videos or running them on a stealth frame, Cloud Walker is the definitive speed spy ability.

Mesa. Well-rounded combat frame. Has damage reduction, CC with Muzzle Flash and Shooting Gallery, a highly powerful exalted secondary (hence it has Secondary Outburst inheritance, woooo). Can also play her as a gun buffer by ditching her exalted and playing around the hilarious augment for her 1. I'm not a Mesa player so I'll let one of the other cowfolken take over Mesa Propaganda duties.

Hydroid. If like me you parse him as a CC-debuffer frame, his kit is amazingly convoluted at this job. Mr Corrosive himself, degrading armour, optionally applying Viral, locking down areas. Okay as a lootframe. Some people are upset that he has a less slow playstyle or something, and I am sincerely sorry for their loss. Newdroid is much faster and more fun to play, and we have >2s shield gates now, so I don't miss hiding in my puddle. Amazing new player frame since Tidal Impunity bestows status (and knockback!) immunity on top of a cheap movement ability.

Titania. Unfortunately has kind of the worst exalted weapon in the game since Diwata blocks her from being able to conveniently inherit Outburst onto her Pixias... but it really doesn't matter, because Pixias honestly slap without it. Both a speed frame and an excellent CC frame. Has a bit of the gun buffy too with Beguiling Lantern. I'd turn back into a Titania Mainia(c) overnight if they gave her Chromatic Blade, just saying.

Gara. One of the handful of frames I essentially never play (<10h), so I can't comment. I think with Incarnon inheritance, Mass Vitrify is a really good nuke now or something? Spectrosiphon with Arcane Eruption is very funny. That's all I got. Glassheads please take it away in the comments.

Weapon comments

I won't cover all of them, just some interesting or odd properties. And my beloved Corinth. If you're a weapon collector type, you can make anything work, so don't worry about "viability".

Fragor. Has an initial combo passive. It's fighting its own terrible status chance to be a good Influence slammer. Invites direct and unfavourable comparisons to Furax and Ceramic Dagger incarnons. Fun toy for Zephyrs though, per Nev.

Ninkondi. Rare instance of a weapon with an electric slam, although it's tiny at 7m radius. High native electric weighting too, so you can run it as a light attack Influence spreader.

Pangolin. Was the best hybrid sword until Skana Incarnon came out. Has forced slash on the light slam, although it does Impact damage.

Volnus. Unique(?) in that the heavy slam does raw Slash, which is a mixed blessing. Does extra slammage with Gara which is neat. Not having Blast is honestly a huge negative for Influence builds, though.

Ballistica. Once upon a time, the clones this made could be scanned again, making it part of the really hardcore kavat breeder's toolkit. One of two weapons I still don't have, so I can't comment.

Corinth. Shining Resonance armonics lookin' gun. I love this thing, I was a hardcore Corinth lifer until I discovered the Stahlta, and it still holds a warm place in my heart. Worthy Comradery has pushed the altfire into a death nuke. Still stands toe to toe as an effective murder weapon in our current bonkers meta.

The bird queen, air elemental, most underappreciated frame - Zephyr!

Release date: 2014-02-05

Passive: Striking from the skies above, Zephyr is significantly lighter in comparison to other Warframes, dramatically altering her airborne physics. While airborne, Zephyr’s equipped weapons gain a 150% Critical Chance bonus.
Tail Wind - From the ground, charge and release to launch Zephyr into an airborne hover. From the air, tap to dash forward, or aim down to dive bomb enemies below.
Airburst - Launch a burst of massively dense air. Hold to send enemies flying, tap to pull them toward the burst. Damage increases per enemy hit.
Turbulence - Creates a wind shield around Zephyr, redirecting all incoming projectiles.
Tornado - Create deadly tornadoes that seek out and engulf enemies. Tornadoes deal the elemental damage type they absorb the most. Shoot enemies engulfed in Tornadoes to do additional damage.

Acquisition: Zephyr’s blueprints can be researched from the Tenno Lab in the dojo.

In 1999, it comes up that we don't know how far in the future we are. This is as a consequence of the Orokin destroying all the old history. However, Loid mentions that there are still palaeolithic cave paintings. Could Loid and Albrecht or literally anyone else not just carbon date pigment samples or something?

I can forgive bugs. I don't know if I can forgive this.

I've fought the tank/spider a few times now and every time it's been a slog. It has some of the more annoying abilities grabbed from other bosses, ex the Eidolon's stomp, and seems to have the most staggering attacks out of all bosses, or at least uses them very frequently.

With most other bosses, even the more annoying ones like Kela or Profit Taker, I'm mostly thinking about how to play better using normal means to beat the boss... with H-09 I am just thinking to myself: 'OK, how do I cheese this?' for most of the second phase.

And it seems like they're moreso than when the Jade Light update was new.

It feels like their eximus ability tracks more accurately now and moves noticeably, but not drastically, faster. This is bad enough in normal missions but the 1999 tileset can exacerbate it a lot by making hunting the thing down harder above ground or being unable to stop the beam because its origin point is above the ceiling below ground.

Anyone else feel this way/notice the difference?

EDIT: Prior to 1999 I didn't mind Jade Light Eximus showing up in normal missions. I'm doubting I'll be returning to Hollovania after rank 5 Hex now in very large part because of the obnoxious prevalence of these gits.

I've recently noticed some melee builds that revolve around heavy slams, I was wondering if you folks can share your experience with them and help me decide whether they are fun and worth investing into them.

I guess the top contenders are Samptones and Sancti Magistar incarnon, but there's also mention of Fragor and Arca Titron. Any of you got experience with these builds, is it a gimmick or not?

I've mostly been using Okina recently and Azothane before that so I want to spice it up a bit with something different for a change. They'd be for general use in any missions, from relic cracking to 1999 bounties, etc.

Dropped with the 1999 update. There's a lot of cool things you can do now.

  • Tested: Shock Trooper gives non-combining Electric to juice up your weakpoint hits, Banshee shenanigans (Bansheenanigans) and Influence nukes
  • Tested: Thermal Transfer giving you free Cold, Heat or Blast based on your needs. Gauss himself gets to unleash a torrent of blast procs within Influence range.
  • Tested: Freeze Force enables Blast/Frostbite and Blast/Shiver builds. ~~I think Biting Frost might finally be a dead mod, watch me try and make a functional triple augment Frost though.~~ Triple augment Frost is very doable with tauforged crimsons. A blast/electric Sibear still gets to interact with Cold combo racking with Freeze Force. Okina? Who cares lmao.
  • Tested: Lavos's Valence Formation retains its forced procs, just with no awkward combining anymore.

~~Still need to test if Valence Formation is still forcing procs onto things that normally can't proc, such as ground finishers.~~ They're definitely not eligible for Shock Trooper rolls.

Can confirm Valence Formation is still forcing procs onto finishers, although not death detonations like Vulcan Blitz, Thermagnetic Shells, Entropy Detonation etc.

I've been playing with the terralyst lately and found out that a mediocre velocitus as a call down and on a necromech will take huge chunks off it's health. The necromech is even better because it isn't bothered by all the knock back and stagger.

As I don't have any of the meta frames for eidolon hunts, this has been a bit of a game changer for me and has me wondering how this would stack up with meta options. I've got a Lanka and it's nowhere near as effective even at double the fire rate.

Has anyone else played with this? I'd love to hear other stories on how the new deployables work with hunts.

The invisible marksman, legal wall hack, one shot many kills - Cyte-09!

Passive: Gains Practiced Aim when he kills an enemy by damaging their Weak Points, increasing his Critical Chance against weak points by 1% up to a maximum of 300%, lasting for the entirety of a mission.
Seek - Plant an antenna that projects a forward wave scan. Detected enemies take increased Weak Point Damage, and become visible through walls. Weapons gain Punch through.
Resupply - Throw two Elemental Ammo Packs that instantly refill the active weapon's magazine, while granting the weapon an additional instance of the selected Elemental Damage and Status Effect. Reload clears the effect. Sniper Rifles gain extra damage.
Evade - Jump backwards and become invisible for a short duration. Killing enemies on their Weak Points extends the duration and heals Cyte-09.
Neutralize - Summon the Neutralizer, Cyte-09's exalted Sniper Rifle. Bullets ricochet off Weak Points to seek out other nearby Weak Points. Alt fire lobs a Cold grenade that completely freezes enemies.

Acquisition: Main blueprint is acquired upon completion of The Hex quest. Component blueprints are acquired from Höllvania Central Mall Bounties as an uncommon drop. Alternatively Cyte-09's blueprints can be purchased from Amir of The Hex.

So, I've got a particular want here and I'm not sure which weapon might satisfy what I'm after.

I want something with no or minimal scope that would be a good candidate to have both Primary Acuity and Semi-Rifle Cannonade. Only weapons that come to my mind are either sniper-rifles, which have scopes, or the Latron. I wouldn't mind reacquiring the Latron for this kind of build but if there's something else, especially something I've never had before, that'd be better.

So, what weapons fit these criteria?

I cannot, for the life of me, find one. I am Hot & Fresh (😎)(not really, tho'...), I'm playing Hell-Scrub missions because it's just very fun to cause pure mayhem on familiar streets, and every single time I finish the mission with a pang of frustration that I wasted a lot of time unsuccessfully looking for a noisy blue needle...

So I give up on them. If we're to meet on the field of battle, I will be avoiding the cache, so that I won't at least have that defeat constantly flashing in my face:))

Okay, I'm trying to get more Techrot Motherboards and the current bounty that appears to be best for doing it is one of the above. To make it short: This is an absolute pain in the ass. It appears to be entirely arbitrary what counts or not for 'on high ground'.

Anyone figure out how to make sense of this?

Edit: I don't like Volts. This being an Amir bounty is only making this more frustrating for me with him periodically using one of the trolling powers on me.

Edit2: Lost my patience with being trolled and quit the mission. Got them from loading into the Legacyte hunt without bounties. Amir, I like you but I hate that speed power of yours.

Gonna keep it spoiler-free, it's completely unrelated to the content (it's brilliant).

It's about the relationship mechanic. I now wish I'd postponed the finale until I reached max Chemistry with everyone, because the more they open up, the more endearing they get - concrete example, Lettie completely swept me off my feet and I didn't expect it at all!

I say this because what DE have done with this bit of Warframe is, I feel, kinda' transcendent. I don't even know how to put it coherently yet, it's like they've entirely removed the fourth wall from the story in a very specific way. The IRL IS the diegetic. And I am now certain that the finale hits veeery differently if one gets attached to the characters as much as possible. Not in that the content would be different, but in how much more it'd mean with all of that emotional load behind it.

Found this one and its secondary counterpart... haven't found something I want to use it on yet but it seems like it might be worth it. But being an odd mod I figured I'd post here, I'd like to hear what other Tenno think of it.

Just had the worst farming experience of my life.

I've mostly given up on camping to farm. Whenever I do it, it takes 5 minutes to get one orokin cell. Whether we're doing Gabii, Ophelia, or Piscinas, I've found it's always faster to run towards the enemy than sit around waiting for them to come to you. I can kill twice as many enemies moving around than still, so what's the point of Strangledome in situations like that?

Today I formed a farming group with somebody who seemed new to Steel Path, looking for orokin cells. I asked if we could farm plastids at the same time. I recognise that there's a 10% lower drop rate of cells on Piscinas, but wasting 10% of my time is better than wasting 50% by having to go to Ophelia later on. The newbie also wanted plastids.

But player 3, who clearly knew exactly what they were doing, wanted to go to Gabii. They made fun of me for needing plastids and started us on Gabii. We didn't communicate at all before starting the mission, the newbie thought we were going to get Plastids at Gabii until it was too late to change the vote. Nobody even brought Khora.

I decided that since we didn't have Khora and half the people would rather be somewhere else, I'd just do what I thought was the most efficient farming strategy. I started exploring while mowing down infested. After a couple minutes, I'd found two orokin cells in resource deposits, I had 300 kills, and my camping allies had a total of about 60 kills. I recognise that my absence was throwing off the spawns for their plan, but they couldn't have got 300 in that time by camping, and certainly not 2 cells. Nobody even bothered to go pick up the second cell I pinged.

My allies started yelling at me for farming how I wanted to. I made my case that I've tried it their way dozens of times, and it doesn't work as well. They said that they've gotten 60 cells in an hour of camping. That sounds implausible to me, but if it happened, it was with Khora, Nova, Nekros, a resource booster, and luck.

Player 3 kept on calling me "guy" and "man", and it really pissed me off, being trans. So I said I'd go camp with them if they apologised for calling me a guy. They proceeded to keep calling me a guy on purpose, accuse me of trolling, and extract.

They still had not picked up the second orokin cell I pinged for them. But they did lie that thanks to a resource booster, they already had 5 orokin cells from 6 minutes of off-meta farming. I went to the camping site, found no cells, checked the scoreboard, and saw that getting 5 cells would have been a statistical miracle anyway. They asserted that the cells had despawned because I took too long.

I recognise that some people have good experiences with sitting in a room for an hour doing nothing and say it's more efficient. But if you're going to do that, at least have a plan. Don't leave Khora and Nova home, and then demand your teammates farm your way after the mission already started. Don't misgender fellow Tenno after they ask you to stop. Don't call people trolls for wanting to actually play the game. Don't lie to your teammates out of spite. And don't turn your nose up at orokin cells because your teammate got them in a way you didn't approve of.

I filed a report on player 3 for the harassment, and I felt so scared when I did, because there was a warning I could be punished for filing what they see as a false report, and I don't know how good their reports system is on intentional misgendering.

97

But Lettie stole my heart...

That's it, that's my confession.

Hello everyone,

After my last post complaining about the Zarr I figured I should share with the community the solution that I've found to make it less painful... and just about enjoyable to use:

Ammo Drum + Vigilante Supplies: V.Supplies won't refill your mag so it can only get you up-to 5 shots between reloads without Drum... the same amount you'd take from your capacity on a full reload. So, unless you go full OCR you're missing out on ammo drops. Having the extra four capacity means you have most of a reload left after a full reload. Together this makes it so you probably have ammo to reload with under most conditions during Survival even when your teammates have split up.
