There's a feud between Trump and Musk?

Mr_Rightside 4h ago

For people out of the loop:

President Trump: "You saw a man who was very happy when he stood behind the Oval Desk...Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore. I was surprised." "He said wonderful things about me...he's worn the hat, 'Trump was right about everything,' and I am right about the Big Beautiful Bill."

President Trump: "Elon knew the innerworkings of this [Big Beautiful Bill]...he had no problem, all of a sudden he had a problem, only when he found out we're gonna have to cut the EV mandate." "He hasn't said bad about me personally, but I'm sure that'll be next. I'm very disappointed in Elon."

Elon Musk: Whatever. Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, even though no oil & gas subsidies are touched (very unfair!!), but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK in the bill. In the entire history of civilization, there has never been legislation that both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this! Either you get a big and ugly bill or a slim and beautiful bill. Slim and beautiful is the way.

Elon Musk: False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!

Elon Musk: Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.

Elon Musk: Such ingratitude.

Elon Musk: Where is this guy today??

Elon Musk: Where is the man who wrote these words? Was he replaced by a body double!?

Elon Musk retweeted a post from Wall Street Mav: "I fully agree with Elon. I simply hope this doesn't create long term damage between Elon and Trump."

President Trump on Truth Social

President Trump: Elon was “wearing thin,” I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!

Elon Musk: Such an obvious lie. So sad.

President Trump: The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!

This would both end the International Space Station and simultaneously provide no way to safely deorbit it.

Elon Musk: This just gets better and better 🤣🤣 Go ahead, make my day …

Elon Musk: Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!

Elon Musk: Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.

Elon Musk: In light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately.

President Trump: I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Ian Miles Cheong: President vs Elon. Who wins? My money's on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him.

Elon Musk: Yes

Helly 4h ago

Im with elon on this tbh.

Mountaineer 4h ago

I'm sitting this one out. Fuck EVs, fuck H1Bs, fuck pork barrel omnibus bullshit, fuck Palantir, and fuck congress with a pineapple sideways.

BlackPilledMAGA 3h ago

This is just sad. It seems Trump just can't keep allies because he flies off the fucking handle every time someone questions one of his positions. Most of the time I agree with him but he shouldn't have gone there with Musk, who has been a tremendous ally to him and spent billions advancing freedom of speech and breaking the legacy media's grip on the public's conscience.

Meanwhile FBI and DOJ are doing absolutely fucking NOTHING after Elon put himself and his team and his businesses personally on the line with the DOGE audits.. and jack shit has been done about nearly everything they uncovered.

I'm pretty much out of hope after seeing how this admin continues to operate. There's no better option but this isn't what we voted for, this is status quo bullshit.

Jojo3000 3h ago

Quite sad of trump to break a friendship because the other person disagrees with him on something.

Sorry to overshare, but i know most people won't go to that cesspool, and this thread is one of hundreds like it, all of them bringing me joy! All this stuff is getting upvoted! On the donald!

My face when MAGAts start burning teslas.

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

Why bother? They set fire to themselves.

The fact that T_D still exists in any form floors me. What a shithole.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 8 points 21 hours ago

It's surprising that cult members have a platform to worship their cult leader? Besides, he gets his own space funded ever since regular twitter (as opposed to the current nazi shitter) kicked him off.

Anyone else noticing the similarities between the new pro-Elon anti-Trump statements and the old pro- Trump anti-Harris statements?

I'm guessing a lot of this is Elon's troll farms at work.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 9 points 22 hours ago

I doubt it’s Elon. I figure it’s the same old bots and farms from before just trying to stir the shit for instability’s sake and keep the worst president ever in charge so he can keep destroying things.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

I'm hoping Leon turns his disinformation machine loose on Trump.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 83 points 1 day ago

You didn't overshare, I'm thankful I don't have to go. This is fucking hilarious to see. Honestly, I hope they both lose. Elon gets deported and trump starts to see repercussions of that. Elon is tied up with a lot of military complex type shit, this is fun.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 3 points 19 hours ago

Aren't they always?

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social 50 points 1 day ago (3 children)

i’m a little uneasy. it seems many are favoring Musk. is that the general feeling on the Right? some are calling for Vance to replace Trump. i could imagine Musk being welcomed back, and with a smarter (or quieter) fascist president for a figurehead Musk can continue pulling the strings. idk.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this is an intentional plan by right wing tech billionaires to sideline Trump and install their man Vance, but I'm curious how the MAGA rank and file would react. Trump has become many people's entire personality

[–] Zirconium@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

MAGA rank and file would be pissed. They hated Elon until he backed trump and their views on EV changed. Even fox news can't fix the hole trump would leave behind if replaced

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago

they wont like thiel, as soon as he backs vance, they are going to start calling out thiel for being gay and what not, which hes trying to stay out of the spotlight because hes gay.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This makes me really uneasy.

I was always of the belief that Trump just had this shit version of charisma that people liked and between that and propaganda they just obsess over him. I never in a million years thought they'd so easily get behind some absolutely empy suit like Vance.

I was really hoping the GOP winning streak was going to end with Trump, but it looks like we're just fucked from here on out. :/

[–] Triasha@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

I think it's far more likely the find a smarter fascist to rally behind than they fracture. They won't learn their lesson until they have to skip meals for a few months at least. Even then, they will say it's Biden's fault.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago

for a whole month, musk was refer as the president instead of trump, which got under trumps skin.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'll allow it!

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 28 points 1 day ago

I appreciate the summary. I would never go to that cesspool.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

R/conservative on reddit is about the same and it's so damn funny.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago

They're coping so hard right now. It's always hilarious to see cons advocate for non-con positions. One guy is hoping Dump's bill can be made into smaller bills so that "proper scrutiny" can be given to it. Like my man, if you want oversight on spending you're in the wrong fucking party.

[–] Alk@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 day ago

Thank you for bringing this here because I'm definitely not going there.

[–] josefo@leminal.space 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

How real is the threat to the ISS? How did it operate before SpaceX?

[–] dexa_scantron@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

It was supplied with Russian rockets before SpaceX developed reliable rockets to do it.

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 12 points 1 day ago

Before SpaceX we had the shuttle, and then the Russian Soyuz when the former was retired.

[–] gazter@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

Astronauts and supplies were sent up on Russian rockets.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I'm sitting this one out. Fuck EVs, fuck H1Bs, fuck pork barrel omnibus bullshit, fuck Palantir, and fuck congress with a pineapple sideways.

I'm down with this, but why "fuck EVs"? Seems like a personal choice, one that saves money in many/most cases. In a sane world EVs would either be championed by conservatives or, at worst, seen as a neutral topic.

[–] The_Decryptor@aussie.zone 21 points 1 day ago

If it doesn't burn fossil fuels they don't like it, same mentality that leads to "rolling coal".

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They can't understand personal choice because they want to force everyone to live like them, so they assume others want to force them.

[–] andallthat@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

it's the far left that forces me to feel guilty about being the proud, racist, homophobic polluter I am! ( /s just in case....)

[–] DaGeek247@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

/t/fuckcars maybe? Our public project trains can't be too far out now, right? Right!?

[–] ChickenAndRice@sh.itjust.works 5 points 19 hours ago

Ah yes, conservatives. Famous for their support of public transportation

[–] grue@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

/t/fuckcars maybe?

Absolutely fucking not. MAGA CHUDs are not and never have been part of the 'fuck cars' movement, at least as I've experienced it. I can't speak to R*ddit's r/fuckcars as I'm not affiliated with them (beyond participating in that sub as a user before I quit R*ddit), but MAGAs are not welcome in !fuckcars@lemmy.world and I will insta-ban anybody who tries to spread anti-EV disinformation.

-- !fuckcars@lemmy.world mod

caveats

  1. "Anti-EV disinformation" means false statements disparaging electric cars that push ICE cars as being preferable. It does not mean true statements disparaging electric cars that push non-car modes of transport as being preferable.

  2. Hypothetically, if there were an "urbanist MAGA," that person would be welcome. But there isn't, pretty much by definition, so "MAGAs aren't welcome" is a reasonable shorthand.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Giving rich people tax credits to buy them, miffs a lot of people esp in context where byd outcompete tesla.

China also beat us in solar despite state aid provided for that industry too.

Sounds like a generation of state aid investments got blown and we got nothing or not much to show for it.

This was before the Tesla tubby blew up the Tesla brand

[–] neatchee@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

GOP tried to stop spending on solar at ever turn. China out-spent us dramatically. That's the reason we lost, not wasted funds

Half-assed approaches lead to half-assed results in competitive endeavors

[–] grue@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

We ceded solar to the Chinese the minute Reagan ripped Carter's solar panels off the White House.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

and not all the blue states even fully adopted solar too, we just half assed it.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sounds like an operations issue lol

[–] neatchee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

More like a leadership issue

[–] systemglitch@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Thanks, I was curious what all this drama was about

[–] Novocirab@feddit.org -2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (2 children)

I absolutely love how the top post is one from three days ago when the doctrine still was that Elon is a national hero.

I say let's try to keep it that way, so please everyone register there and upvote. (You don't even need to enter an email address, just a username and a password and you're free to go.)

[–] Melatonin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 19 hours ago

I do not think this is a good idea.

[–] BeNotAfraid@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago

Counterpoint. Musk was the sacrificial lamb, just like Thiel did to him at Paypal. Tesla was the most popular electric car company in the world. Their whole business model was based on reaching net zero. What if this was all done on purpose to stop adoption of electric vehicles. Fossil fuel industry is a huge player in this. Copenhagen Atomics is set to deploy their first thorium salt nuclear reactor in 2027. That plus electric cars means no need for fossil fuels. As it stands, in two generations, our planet will be basically uninhabitable due to climate change. The whole techno dystopian future big tech want with their freedom cities would be way easier to pull off, if the environment outside is totally inhospitable. Wouldn’t that make sure forced adoption of brain implants like neuralink, or Meta, or Valve’s brain chips a much easier sell? If it was that, or imminent death from exposure and air pollution. Peter Thiel is a transhumanist who believes we can ascend humanity through merging with machines.

Curtis Yarvin said that he would virtualise non-useful people as a humane alternative to genocide. Doesn’t that make generative AI make way more sense? You don’t want to adopt the surveillance state in your head, fine, live out the rest of your life as you slowly die of dehydration and hunger. If Trump is impeached we get Vance, whose entire career was created by Thiel. It all makes too much sense. Meta are now a defense contractor, Britain has said it will rebuild its military using “outside contractors.” Palantir already have Israel and America. Big Tech want control of the world’s armies, fighting proxy wars on their behalf. Once your military requires their systems, they can turn them off if any opposes them. This is all starting to turn the gears in my head.
