Tbh I feel like trump counts in your list. The trumps may not be a wealthy political dynasty but trump managed to manipulate the media for decades and that works too.

It's not true that anyone can get elected president, but anyone with enough money and recognition has a good chance.

This is actually how things used to be done before we had police, at least in England.

What about basic and assembly? Even Pascal?

Yeah I've not done any coding in a while.

Some British people enjoy these flavour combos. Not me, though, I consider pineapple a pollutant when on a pizza. No big deal though, I know loads of people enjoy it and fair play to em.

I love waffles - and these look great. I'd just want them after the meat course.

Hey, curry is practically our national dish!

Yeah I get that. I don't like foreign code on my machine. Trouble is, I dropped the ball with coding over twenty years ago and I kinda feel like the whole of windows is foreign code. I trust Linux more, but I don't really understand it. I tend to assume that when I'm online my device is sending something I don't want sent to some fucker I never even heard of. Insert shrug emoji

Yeah, I remember the days when you'd get computer magazines for the Sinclair spectrum (I had the 48k) or the BBC b (now that's was a great machine, basic interpreter and assembly compiler). When you bought games back then they were on a cassette tape. Sometimes the magazines would have those cheats - like you said, a code or sequence of keys for more lives n stuff. Back when I was playing vice city on the PS2 I remember finding a cheat that would drop a tank. Loved that shit. I am just getting back into gaming after a long gap (just finished bioshock, wow!) and I've not really done any online stuff. I probably won't for a while, I'm way too old and shit, I'd get slaughtered by kids! Last time I played stuff against other humans was unreal tournament on a kinda LAN thing we set up in a squat way back. But I dunno, I think if I was playing that shit and getting slaughtered by kiddies a quarter of my age - I'd just play something else. Anything we do in life, there's always people who are gonna be better at it. I'm thinking the way to deal with that is to put the work in and get good or accept that we're not, or just do something else. I hear there are cheats for call of duty type things that people pay subscriptions for. I don't get it.

But I'm not pissing on anyone else's choices, plus like I say I'm way out of the loop on this. Thanks for sharing your experiences mate.

Hmm thanks for the reply. Actually mate I kinda see your point. Like I said, I'm just getting into gaming after maybe a twenty year gap and I've not played much online stuff. Yeah I can see it would be frustrating to have all the cool shit behind a grind wall.

I guess when I heard cheating I was thinking of people who gain an unfair advantage and ruin the game for others. That's the sort of cheating I don't understand.

Back in the day, there were cheats in computer magazines, a sequence of key presses that would give you loads of lives or money or bullets or whatever. I used those an loved em.

As someone who is pretty old and is a crap gamer - well firstly I only play single player so I guess it wouldn't effect me. But what's the problem with anti cheat? Aside from it being code you don't want on your machine. I dunno, I don't get why people cheat. Isn't it a better feeling when you just play and get good?

Edit - I'm not defending rockstar btw. Don't know the politics here. In fact last game I enjoyed was vice city on the PS2. I'm trying to hey caught up on everything I missed. But yeah, what's the problem with anti cheat?

Best wait until they cool down.

Yeah well my steam deck will survive 2025 unless I break it. It's a proper nifty little machine, so glad I bought it. I've not done any gaming since i had a PS2 so there's loads of games to catch up on. Recently finished bioshock, wow. I've got a long list of older games, but I've tried a couple of newer things. It plays doom 2016 just fine, same with deathloop and beam ng drive

Tbh the physics makes crashes pretty fun. I do a lot of driving for my job and try to be a responsible, careful driver. So it's nice to fire up the steam deck sometimes and drive like a complete wanker!

Hi yeah so this is a follow-up post. I posted a pic of my garden maybe a month ago and said I'd post more pics over summer, so here is its current state. As you can see, the gladioli are coming and going, the calendulas are bullet proof (those fuckers will flower when temp drops to zero). There's a couple of grafted apples in the mix, my marigolds got nailed by slugs (lotta slugs and snails this year). I'm not growing any food aside from the apples which are too small to fruit and the heritage beef tomato someone gave me. The sweet peas are almost over, gutted cos I love how tarty they smell! But I've been saving seed pods. There's a bit more stuff in the mix.

Obviously growing in pots and crates is challenging but as you can see I live in a van and my plants have to be able to move when I have to go. Also there's fuck all soil where I am right now. I'd love a proper garden but I'm doing my best. Anyhoo, the bees and butterflies love it, and so do I.

Hi yeah so I'm not sure if this fits here but I'm posting it anyway. I live in a van so my garden has to be in pots so I can move it when I have to. Also there's fuck all soil where I am right now. I'm mostly about flowers, I'm not growing any food this summer except that tomato plant in the blue crate, someone gave me that and I couldn't not give it a chance. I think it's a heritage beef tomato. There's a couple of apples in the mix, one of em flowered in spring but they were only cuttings& grafts last year so doubt it'll fruit. The rest is meant to be pretty stuff, sweet peas, calendulas (dead headed, hopefully back soon, those fuckers are bulletproof), marigolds (slug attack but couple survivors) gladioli, couple of roses, snap dragons, sunflowers be coming late due to sluggery, cornflowers, the orange crate is supposed to be meadow flowers, we'll see what happens there. Anyway, if no-one tells me not to I'll post another pic in a few weeks cos all being well it'll only get prettier
