Episode 94: Where the Red Fearne Glows

After a rather chaotic information-gathering mission to the Red Moon of Ill-Omen, Ruidus, you had traversed deep beneath its crust into the alien city of Kreviris, and with the help of the Volition (which is the resistance against the terrors that currently oversee that locale) you found information, you left some chaos, and in the escape lost a friend through a heroic sacrifice. Fresh Cut Grass is no more.
Gathering what pieces you can and making a tenuous alliance with Liliana (one of the high members of the Ruby Vanguard and mother of Imogen), you returned to Exandria with her help.
Upon returning, through a brief stealth mission and escaping the Tishtan Excavation Site, you returned to the west side fortress, where one of the numerous stationed elements of the Exandrian Accord have set up base, preparing for either the defense of Exandria or the offense on the moon. Still numb with the experience, Keyleth arrived, bringing with her a friend you hadn't seen in some time, Dorian Storm (who had undergone his own challenges of late; walking here alone, having lost a brother, leaving behind other friends).
Here you were conveying information of what you had discovered and given a place to rest for the night. Exhausted, you all reunited, shared a bit about what happened, what you're thinking, what you still haven't processed yet, and shared drinks in the honor of those that are no longer with you.
As we come back after some drinks have been had late in the evening, the soreness creaking in, not really sure what hour it might be here in the middle of the evening.

Episode 93: Bittersweet Reunions

You all were making your way southeast from where you were laying low from Kymal, hopefully to get to Zephrah to find the Tempest. Yet only a couple days out from where you were keeping cover, Opal had a bit of a moment, exploded out a bunch of gems and spiderwebs triggering the forceful conversion by the Spider Queen of Opal into Opal the Twice-Crowned Champion of the Spider Queen. Opal, your friends love you so much and they are currently fighting to the death to save you.
Currently, just as a little reminder for the group, we have a big ol' bubble of Darkness in the middle of the field, so none of you saw Ted disappear back into Opal's body as Opal grows, stretches out a little taller, three sets of arms, and renewed specific, violent purpose to shake you off, to get away, so that she can take her place beside or in front of the Spider Queen for whatever's coming as the Moon of Ill Omen turns its gaze on the gods of Exandria.
We have Haste, we have Darkness, and a Bless.

Episode 92: Broken Roads

Bell's Hells, after making contact with The Volition, agreed to aid them in a number of their current simultaneous goals against the dark leaders of Kreviris, in hopes of gaining information and aiding the revolution against the Ruidian tyrants. Upon these missions, much information was gained, some
dangerous circumstances occurred,
and yet you survived and endured
and began to flee the city as chaos began to erupt from within.
During this time, after calling towards your mother and sending her into a personal crisis about what's right and who to align with, she scattered off into the dark shadows of the caverns. As you fled towards the surface through some of these winding rock tunnels, you were hunted by Otohan Thul, the Legend of the Peaks.
During this fight (in which your terrifying foe unleashed her true capabilities) many of you fell and barely scraped back from the edge, but one of you did not, Fresh Cut Grass. A friend and ally who had recently come to truly realize his worth sacrificed himself to save the rest of you and to fell for good the foe that had long hunted you. In that fugue numbness of realization, you grabbed what you could, what remained of him (and what you could from what remained of Otohan Thull) continued to flee to the surface where you emerged.
There amongst the red Ruidian landscape, the distant storms roiling, Liliana descended from above, and seeing the hurt on your face (on all of your faces), realized what had likely transpired. It was here, still not truly grasping or processing what has happened and what is next, you stare upon the alien landscape and partially obscured horizon.
Glancing around as best you can, and it's fairly clear in the area you are now, the dust storms currently sit at least a number of miles off, though you're uncertain how fast they're moving at a quick glance, you do not see any other figures immediately present. Where you've pushed out from here, one of these side caverns, you took a look behind you and you can see the base of the mountain range that encircles Kreviris and continues past it. So you are just outside the city itself. You do not see any immediate outposts, but you figure if you were to leave a little further out, you would be essentially out in the open, visible from many of the outposts that encircle the crown-like mountainscape that surrounds the valley at the top of the city. You can very easily see the Bloody Bridge, the single red beam of energy that sits in a direction which helps you orient yourself and your location right now from where you came. If you get really close to the base of the mountain, there's probably some little alcoves that you can pull in to stay out of any immediate sight. Any larger dips or cracks in the ground where you could hide from sight are a good 500 or more feet out and would probably put you out in the open before you reach them.

Ashton says, "I'm gonna see what's below us." and inhales deeply.
You grind through the ground and vanish below. While you're currently looking, Liliana is still gliding about a foot off the ground, her hair drifting. You can feel, almost taste the energy that sparks in the air around her. She's still just locked in on you (Imogen), her face still sad. You can see the streaks of (not sure if they're of sadness or anger) tears that have since dried and smeared what dirt was along her face and as she looks towards you for guidance before she looks away.
"I don't know what's going on Imogen. I don't know what to do."
"I don't either."
"Well, y'all can't stay here. Going to have to...you cant stay here."
"Are you staying?"
"If I go, they'll know. What's more useful? If I leave they'll...I mean the rest of them already have been tough enough to get them to trust me. Am I more useful here to what you're doing, or am I more useful leaving it behind?"

Episode 91: True Heroism

Bell's Hells, here, slowly crawling toward the center of the chaos here on Ruidus. You found the subterranean core of the Kreviris Imperium here in Vaterra Kreviris. This massive underground cavern. The space where a singular glass pillar (his massive central piece of strange Ruidian glass that marks the center of their culture here) surrounded by evocative and interwoven city.
You've made friends with the Volition (the rebellious group that's been fighting against the Imperium) and decided to embark on two of their multitude of simultaneous missions to both prove yourself an ally and to help the cause.
You decided to be part of a bombing mission (this side of the table helped alongside Ira Wendagoth while the other side went to go and retrieve a very important ally and figure with information about what's going on between the Imperium, the Weave Mind, and the Ruby Vanguard).
During these separate missions, it seemed the bombing mission was a success through illusion and conversation, though the setting was at a much quicker time than was anticipated. Ira Wendagoth (not one to think about other people's safety other than his) mostly managed to escape, though a little bit of wear and tear, as the detonation caught up with you and blew two of you out the exit like a cannon. As the explosion rocked the interior, this cavern, shaking the space within, this team here had infiltrated an engineering bay within an area south of the Arx Creonum. Here you found a number of creatures that were being experimented on, mutated and changed. Your target was indeed inside one of these liquid-filled chambers.
You essentially ambushed and managed to rapidly slaughter some of the dangerous guardians of this engineering bay laboratory and after battling with one of these partially incomplete terrifying creatures that was released in the middle of the scuffle, you managed to break the glass and abscond with the half-conscious target of your interest here, Everoa (a female Bormodo who has been working with the opposing side while also feeding information in bits and pieces to the Volition). With her under your arm, Imogen cast Invisibility across that troop and you managed to just barely escape the now incredibly dangerous, intense and Imperium-filled interior of this structure.
As you're now scattered into various places, here within the main city, trying to reconvene, you hear the chaos of shouts and screeches as the armed forces of the Imperium are beginning to gather in response to this massive explosion that rocked the interior of the subterranean community.
You also hear the screech of Gloamglut, as your (Fearne) supposed father, the Sorrowlord Zathuda (who was also within the cavern when it detonated, by the way) whose mount is seeking above. You all notice across the way, another explosion outside of the aforementioned music hall where your mother was to be assassinated. You see that streak of power go firing up into the air and then hear a voice scream into the minds of the two Ruidus-born present.

"DID SHE KNOW?"
As we come back into this chaos right now, in the midst of this response, seeing this, into the dark expanse, just barely-lit glow of the inside of this cavern, what are you four doing?

Who is Bolo? A Very Serious Critical Role Fan Theory

hi everyone,

as of right now it looks like i will not have this week’s highlights video done before the next episode of critical role airs. my internet has been out since thursday afternoon and i’m supposedly not getting it back until sunday night at the earliest (and no, it’s not possible for me to move my entire computer setup somewhere else to get it done). this puts me several days behind schedule, and i don’t realistically think i’ll be able to make up that time and get the video done. i also have other commitments during this upcoming weekend, which means i won’t have time to catch up on video work.

i know many of you have told me that you don’t care when the video comes out, and that you’ll watch it whenever it’s posted, but i have a strict schedule because i believe it’s very important that the video comes out before the next episode of cr airs. plus, if i don’t keep myself to a strict deadline, i know i will fall behind and the videos will never end up getting done.

at this point i don’t really know what to do. in all honestly, i have been thinking about quitting making these videos for a while now, and this whole situation has not lightened my spirits. creating these videos (almost) every week is draining and unrewarding. you know how they say you shouldn’t make your hobby into a job? well that is what i’ve done, except i’m not even getting paid lol. pretty much the only reason i have kept making these videos is because i know how many people still enjoy and appreciate them.

i guess i can’t just quit because of my internet being out, but it’s going to be a lot of work to get these videos back on schedule, and i’m not sure that i have that in me right now. i don’t know what else to say and i don’t really know what to do right now. i just wanted to let you all know that the next video will not be out before the next episode of critical role airs. thank you for reading.

Episode 90: Mission: Improbable

Deep inside the moon of Ruidus, into the crux of the main core of its long hidden civilization, the capital city of Kreviris. Here in Vaterra Kreviris (the subterranean mass of this metropolis) you have made allies with the Volition (the resistance force that has long fought against the Weave Mind and the Imperium that rules over pretty much all living sentient beings here on the moon.
They've been discussing their plans, many of which are to transpire today. The initial one being a sabotage detonation of their core digging tunnel beneath the glass pillar that marks the center of the city; that distraction setting off multiple other tracks.
You decided to split and be part of two of these four missions, with indicating left planning to be part of the demolition crew alongside Ira Wendagoth, the Nightmare King himself, and indicating right being part of a search and rescue mission for a spy/operative for the Volition that has gone missing.
As you've gathered your materials, you've requested some of the general notes as well as some of the other things that might be pertinent to Evoroa (the individual you're seeking; this Bormodo scientist working among the various engineers). You've gathered your things, you've had 'invisibility' and 'see invisibility' cast on most of you. At this point, as we watch the two groups diverge, we're jumping in with...
The Bombing Mission.
All of you somewhat cloaked underneath the Seeming illusion that the Nightmare King had placed you under. We have a curious looking crew here. We have the standing grey-furred Quanikka here. We have a Bormodo traveling, and a tiny myceit who is following along as Ira has taken on the form of one of the Thought Eaters.
As you scatter away (from one of the hidden exits of the current safehouse that the Volition uses), you enter the outskirts of the region of the city known as the Shawl Grotto. Here, as you look about, there is an endless, almost MC Escher-like maze of streets and stairs and stone walkways that weave and twist into each other, buildings popping out at almost odd, angular directions, built upon themselves. It's, beautiful as it is, also a bit intimidating. But Ira takes notice of all of you processing the expanse before you:

"Do not worry friends, just stay close and follow. If you see anything strange, speak up. Well, you'll see a lot of things that are strange. Anything that seems threatening."

Episode 2: The Gilded Graveyard

"You wanna give up. I can see it in your faces. And I get it. I do. I've been there. You're askin' yourselves 'Why on earth did I choose to do this, to go stickin' my nose in places it's better to steer clear of?'
To Tottergrass of all places, coming here. And that's valid. It's a harsh fuckin' world. You can sometimes feel like you're mad doing the things we do for Candela. The monsters of this world will come looking for us without ever lifting a finger. So why should we be seeking them out, right?
No one, not me, not anybody would judge you for walking away. Except, I know why you showed up to begin with. You're doing it for yourself, sure, but you're doing it for all of them, too; for the people you've already lost.and for everybody else who stands to lose just as badly. We do this because we owe 'em. What we do, it's "tking a stand". We're not just throwing up our hands and saying, 'Well what can ya do?'
That's just how it is. We want something better for Tottergrass, Westecklyn, your homes, mine, for every person under the sun. And for fuck's sake, all that pain's gotta be good for somethin'. You can let it overwhelm ya, or you can take hold of it and use it for something . Use it to make the world better. And yourselves better for it."
Anyways...Grimoria. Edgar. Leo. Decklan Murphy lies before you on a plain brass bed, unmoving, draped in perfect white sheets. You're staring at him through a large round window in an adjacent room. He lies still, his chest rising and falling slowly. His shoulder, neck and face, misshapen and mottled, crusted over in growth as white as the tiles that surround him here. You three now stand within the twisting walls of the Fourth Pharos (Candela Obscura's lighthouse stronghold that resides beyond the mundane world, floating somewhere in The Flare). With you now are your lightkeeper, Zora, and another doctor, a shorter man, about five feet. Bespectacled, bald, wearing slacks and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a smock tied back behind his waist.
This is Dr. Hector Aguilar.
Dr. Lycoris, you have been working with him for the better part of a week.

"I am sorry, he has fallen into a coma while you all were sleeping. His resperatory functions have been improving somewhat, but right now we are concerned most about brain inflammation. We can't know more without going in. The only positive change is that the level of bleed we've been monitoring on Mr. Murphy has actually been dropping. Dr. Lycoris, I think you should step away for the time being. Your help has been appreciated. But, if we are not prepared to put him under the knife, I really think it best you should step away from a case so personal to you, in my opinion."

Our new friends at the Wendy's corporation stepped up and offered us a medium rare opportunity to play a new tabletop rpg system that they themselves developed called Feast of Legends.
If this sounds crazy to you... Yes!
We thought the exact same thing, but Wendy's sent us their rule book and this thing is a legit rpg system.
Now this is a brand new setting for all of us (so apologies, we aren't 100 percent sure about any of the rules. Tonight is about having a ridiculous time coming up with hamburger puns and enjoying a lot of free Wendy's food that we just got delivered a few minutes ago.

Liam:"Just so you know, I'm going to 'Rules Lawyer' the shit out of this."
Also, we're going to try not to curse. But... you know. Also, big thanks to Jessica Nguyen for the amazing character art which you may see soon or have seen.
Anyway, players, if you're ready, let's dig in, shall we?
and play Feast of Legends!

You four are warriors in the realm of Beef's Keep. The nations of Beef's Keep have been splintered over disagreements on how to treat their subjects. The United Clown Nations have led their people into a collective darkness known as The Deep Freeze.
But while the borderlands may feel cold and desolate, you reside in one nation that remains a true bacon of hope, Freshtovia. Known for its comfortable seating, signature dishes and redheaded ruler Queen Wendy. As Queen of Freshtovia, Wendy has clapped back at all attacks on her borders maintaining her nation's integrity even while my own integrity is quickly fading.
We join Freshtovia at a milestone. Queen Wendy has reigned for 50 years and subjects from far and wide have gathered for this momentous occasion. They're celebrating with a festival, and the city is full of Beef's Keep's finest vendors selling all your standard delicious Wendy's fair like the kind you'll find right here at our table. As well as some experimental new carnival foods like asiago ranch-flavored cotton candy, chili-flavored funnel cake, and baked potato-flavored soda. There are games, there are competitions, the streets are adorned with streamers in white, light blue, and red, and the people are amassing to hear Queen Wendy address her people.
You four know this city circle well. You are all "Bunsmen" serving in the Royal Patty Patrol. Sworn to defend the queendom at all costs. But your shift just ended, so you are free to enjoy the festival as citizens.
But beef-ore that, maybe you should introduce yourselves and describe your characters.
So, you guys work together. You guard the city together. You go on patrols all the time. You are friends; you're familiar with each other. You just got off your shift and you're in the city circle. There's several familiar buildings around the circle that you recognize. There's the Snacksmith, where basic provisions are sold. There's Wendy's Restaurant and Inn. There's the Royal Gardens with their familiar golden statue of Emperor Dave Thomas.
You walk past the Saucem Fountain, where asiago ranch spews forth from a spout, and vendors and game booths all around. You pass some game booths on either side of the thoroughfare here. The pig races are going on next to you. There's a game called "Biggie and Strong", which is a sort of carnival strength test game. There's a game called fit a fry, and there's a game called "Going Four for Four", run by a lady named Bebe Cue.

Episode 89: Divisive Portents

Upon traveling here on the surface of Ruidus, Bell's Hells, you have eventually journeyed across the dusty and storm-covered surface to the central capital city of Kreviris (where the Imperium's heart remains).
You've trekked through the surface portion of the very tippy-top of this mostly-subterranean city.
You've met with a few individuals, barely dodged being found out and attacked by some of the local soldiers, defeating a few of them and others just barely getting by with some druidic ingenuity before getting the information you required, which was the location of the Volition (the resistance troop that has been working against the Imperium for a period of time that you can only assume has been a long while).
After finding where this entrance was, you talked your way into the hidden subterranean tunnels before arriving here at the Volition Pass House. Here, amongst a period of tense immediate conversations and convincing the Volition members present that you are not an immediate threat, weapons are put aside and the central figure, the seemingly leader of this (who has been referred to in the past by other members as Rashinna of the Golden Hammer) walked you to the edge of this pass house where a massive opaque crystal wall sat, and there when she touched it, it began to become semi-translucent to reveal beneath the incredibly massive cavernous space that contains the expansive, beautiful, alien, but also in some ways oddly familiar landscape of the city of Kreviris.
So here, as you take in the sights around here, Rashinna removes her hand from the crystal and it clouds over once more before she turns back to the rest of you.

"So, you're here, you say we're allied and you're not a danger. What can the Volition do for you and what can you do for the Volition?"
