Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

I assume you can't go to real court over something like this.

I workout, stretch and run outdoors three to four times a week, it's a routine I like.

It's November already and it's getting cold. I have a 100% merino wool mid layer long sleeved shirt I spent 130$ on I wear to the office but I don't want to ruin it working out, stretching and running because it was expensive.

This piece of clothing is quite thick, like 2 layers put together. I don't want to buy anything thinner for sport because I've read thinner undershirts/base layers break due to friction.

This is what I fear is going to happen with my merino mid/base layer if I workout with it, even if it's on the thicker end of layers.

Another option would be to buy a regular polyester base layer to use with a synthetic mid layer or combine a synthetic base layer and a cotton mid layer. Would these be stupid ideas?

What should I use as an outer layer?

Overall, what brands would you recommend? I'm a skinny 5'6'' woman.

Is it a universally agreed-upon "fresh" smell? Cultural? Or is lemon fragrance just cheap to manufacture and use in products? Something else?

I don't hate it, but I also don't care for it, either. Now I'm curious why so many cleaning products use that smell.

I've been farting a lot for my entire life, but especially while sleeping. I usually sleep on my side, curled up, but sometimes on my back. I don't have any allergies or similar things that could be causing this as far as I know.

For example, last night was like this:

  • I lay down, I fart twice
  • I adjust my position, I fart again
  • I roll on my left side, I fart
  • I get up to fix my bed, I fart
  • I lay down again, I fart

This is rather unfortunate because I like sleep with my head under the blanket.

Edit: as for my eating habits, my diet has consisted mainly of granola with 2-4 per day and miscellanous fruit and vegetables for the last 4+ years.

I'm having hard time to help my parents troubleshoot their equipment remotely, when they try to observe the objects both with their eyes and manipulate phone camera for our video chat simultaneously. You can get sick of camera shaking, and they are getting tired too. I thought maybe if they had a VR headset and could stream their view directly to the chat, it could be helpful. Maybe I could even somehow point at things in their view to tell, for example, which cable to check. I do not own a headset, and I couldnt find info of such tools via simple/AI search (maybe wrong keywords). Maybe you know of such domestic solutions?

https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/_en, This is the initiative I am talking about. You have to prove you are an EU citizen and then you can sign for the initiatives you want and if a million signatures are reaching within a year then it must be brought to the EU commission.

So if citizens of EU member states can sign online, why can't they vote online for elections or referendums? If possible, this would decrease the need and power of representative democracy and move closer to direct democracy, which I argue is a good thing

Maybe I am going crazy, but I have noticed a difference about ice cream and its only been Maybe the last 8-10 years was when I first noticed it.

Ice cream from the supermarket doesn't seem to melt properly, and is also way too soft. This seems most noticeable in novelties now, but also most hard ice cream as well.

Did they add some component to make it softer or less likely to freezer burn? Am I just going crazy?

(US, but I assume anywhere else where the same brands are sold have had the same issue.)

I have Trivia Murder Party 1&2, which are great, but was hoping to find a couple other options to play with friends, esspecially those that have specific catagories you can choose to play or to include.

So many adverts made by 'western' companies, especially anything related to toothpaste/other dental stuff, have the presenter smile with some uniform, white flat teeth. I feel like they look sort of uncanny, they just seem off-putting to me. Most people have decently flat teeth but they aren't that fake-looking white. I have pointy canines/pre molars that definitely look completely different to the 'perfect teeth'.

We kinda know what happens if you get sucked into a black hole because of math (spaghettification, what outside observers would see, etc); can the same be said about worm holes? Would you even notice if you passed through one? What would they look like? What would someone watching someone else go through a wormhole look like?

Yes I know, your least-favorite idea goes here. But seriously, someone must have come up with the concept before. Like a bad get-rich-quick scheme could fall into this category, where joining the scheme makes people lose money and become more desperate, so they become more likely to do desperate things like invest more in the scheme. But it can apply to a number of other bad ideas.

According to the general public? And if so, why do economic collapses happen so often under their administrations?

Asking as someone from the other side of the planet.

From the things I saw about the US election, the Dems were the side with plans for the economy - minimum wage adjustments, unions, taxing the rich, etc. The Republicans didn't seem to have any concrete plans. At least, this is what I saw.

I don't doubt Bernie Sanders though - he seems like a straight truth teller. But what am I missing?

It seems to me that Republicans and the Christian Nationalists they are in bed with are going to be immovably pro-Israel. How do we prevent our government from participating in this genocide as these new politicians take power?

I get a quarter pounder with cheese, fries and a drink. It costs almost $15. I can go to a cafe where I'm waited on and served decent food for $20.

A 67 year old lady at my job keeps calling the binder we share a tablet and every time she asks for it, I'm like, "what tablet?". Yesterday I told her it's a binder and she said it was called a tablet before my time. But all my grandparents are around the same age and they all call them binders. Was it a regional thing maybe? We're in the US by the way.

And I'm being serious. I feel like there might be an argument there, I just don't understand it. Can someone please "steelman" that argument for me?

Article III Section 1 of the Wisconsin Constitution currently reads, "Every United States citizen age 18 or older who is a resident of an election district in this state is a qualified elector of that district."

After Tuesday's vote, the article will now read, "Only a United States citizen age 18 or older who is a resident of an election district in this state is a qualified elector of that district."

Doesn't this change the meaning of the statement so much that it's no longer true that every citizen of age who is a resident is eligible to vote? Can this new language be interpreted by courts and lawmakers such that anyone can be disenfranchised if such malicious laws can be passed in the state?

I’m only 20 years old, I’ve never voted or even really bothered paying attention to any other election, and I dunno it kinda feels like I started on one that was really crazy? But I’m not sure maybe every election has been insane and I just didn’t know because I wasn’t paying attention.

With the post election analysis going on right now, there seems to be a ton of weight being put behind exit polling (so and so got x% of women voters, etc) to the point where they just are presented as fact. As early voting and mail-in voting increases around the country, aren't those exit polls getting more and more unreliable? I don't see that discussion happening anywhere and perhaps I have a misunderstanding of what an exit poll even is. I've never been polled in any way after voting myself and as I understand it polling is already not as reliable as they're presented. So should we put as much trust into these exit polls?

A common critic we hear about an EU wide army is What language are they gonna speak but let's forget Europe 2024,

Rome had a huge empire over the whole Europe, I may be wrong, but I don't think that commoner spoke proper Latin in remote province. What happens when they join the legion ? Would the units be split by origin region (Dacian with Dacian, Lugdunumese with Lugdunemese) with only officer speaking latin ? Or would you merge legionaries from different province (So you have Tingitanian, a Lustitanian and a Thracian in the same unit) and give them a crash course in military latin (the way the french foreign legion does? ) Even going as far as Rome, Karl the great empire also spread over half of Europe, and modern European nation used to be way more multi-lingual than they are today, and most likely a random southerner/northerner in Britain, France or Germany couldn't talk to each other.

So how did ancient armies managed the language question ?
