Not having the gloves equipped the entire run is kinda cheese ngl.
Try to kill some bats with only +0 gloves and see how far you get, and stop pooping on other people's fun.
Plus, I did that run already, and upgraded them as soon as I found scrolls. That made me use the troll's upgrades on other things (ring and a wand), and the gloves only ended up +15.
Keeping the gloves equipped the whole time and still making them +17 just means you'd only use the bow and wands, etc for the first 13 floors. It would just be RNG determining if you even made it to the troll. That doesn't sound like a particularly fun challenge vs using a random +1 weapon while waiting for the Troll.
The challenge was not to use any upgrade scrolls for anything useful, just gloves. It was a fun challenge. At least I was using melee with the mace and not just ranged weapons.
