And some users in that thread shitting on other devs for "not wanting to work with reddit" when it's the opposite.

I make the usual car analogy. It's like if your government says "this freeway will be toll based in order to pay for maintenance, the toll will be symbolic and reflects the actual price". Everyone (even if reluctantly because free is better) agreeing with the decision because it's true that maintenance needs to be paid. Then they come and say the toll fee is an unreasonable $100. People will revolt and build an alternative freeway or just pay?
