Ah, now I'm beginning to get the zest of it. So any federated instance will let me post comment or view any instance that it's federated wth. Doesn't this allow for total isolation of some messed-up instances like the NSFW subreddits
Sure, I guess it could if every single Lemmy instance defederated them or vice versa. I'm still learning too.
Huh, do we know how this connection works? Like, if I don't wanna be in a federation of instances can I be my own separate instance or can anyone federated anyone
I'm pretty sure anyone can create their own instance. Not sure how to go about that. I'm not interested in doing it so I haven't read about it. There are a lot of posts that have info about how all of this stuff works. !support@lemmy.world
