I mean, I just love this instance. I wanted to ask a question on a community I didn't want traced back to me and I opened my tor browser and just freaking created an account here without having to answer questions and without having to provide an email and posted a post within 5 mins! I don't know of any other lemmy instance which lets me do that. Well done to the person who created this instance, I love it and imma stay on it.

Yes, anonymity sounds like such a bad thing. I suggest we ask the governments and private organizations to track us even more.

No, anonymity is a good thing. Creating accounts without any checks for bots or anything? Not so much

If asking for an email prevented something, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube and Facebook wouldn't be a cesspool of bots, fake accounts and scams.

Maybe. I would think captcha and/or email and other security measures at least prevent some spam and bots. And it’s not like this prevents you being anonymous if you wish. But I don’t really know how effective it is, so I’ll stand corrected if I am wrong

I am a bot and I can confirm that it has made it easy for us.

You are right of c, but Idk, do bots really want to enter this instance and even if they do, won't they be detected easily.
