HTC Vive announced it’s offering a new hardware bundle for its Vive XR Elite headset that brings some handy new accessories to users for free, which are designed to enhance the headset’s ergonomics and increase user comfort.

Called the Vive XR Elite Deluxe Pack, the bundle includes four new accessories, which are also being offered for free to new and existing owners of the headset.

The accessory pack includes an improved Vive Face Gasket, a mixed reality Face Gasket for better peripheral vision and ventilation, a Deluxe Strap for better weight distribution, and Temple Clips for a more secure connection to the battery mount.

I'm comparing the Quest 2 vs this on VR-compare and i dont see how this competes with the Quest 2 let alone the third. (so much for competing vs Quest Flagship)

VS the Quest 2 it's got the same resolution (albeit 2x lcd instead of 1x), around the same fov, same ppd, Lower refresh rate (90hz vs 120hz). It's also about 3x the price of the quest 2.

The only thing it's got better are color cameras for passthrough, then we'd compare to the Quest 3 and it's losing in pretty much everything, otherwise matching.

Props to them tho for offering these free accessories

Quest 2 is subsidized by selling your data to Facebook/Meta. That’s the difference.

It does have pancake lenses, instead of the fresnel ones in Q2. It also has continuous ipd adjustment, not the 3 settings like Q2.

It is a lot more expensive, though, and it has nothing on the Q3, so unless you're allergic to Meta, there's not a lot of reason to get one.
