That's why I always laugh when they tell me to not use plastic bags, or to not drive places, or to even donate to charities for eco things.
Fuck your billion dollar company asking me to change while you keep doing the same shit.

There are about a million times as many non billionaires as billionaires though. Yes, we need to get rid of billionaires, but please do what you can for the environment as well. If you’re on lemmy, chances are you’re in a country that pollutes more than the world average (as I am), so we especially should try to live more sustainably as well.
Fuck donating to anything through major corporations though, that’s basically money laundering for tax rebates
Well, we should still be somewhat ecologically responsible for moral reasons. But the real impact is dismantling the billionaires and influencing policies.
The “it’s someone else’s problem” attitude is how we ended up here in the first place.
So you dont want to change your pollution habits out of spite? As another commenter said, youre likely well over average for an individual human polluter on this planet. shitty billionaires shouldn't stop you trying completely.
If it's mostly jets and boats, what happens to climate goals if those were suddenly regulated? Or even outlawed? You know, for the sake of the world?
Then it'd take less effort from the rest of us
So, as pointed out in another similar post, these figures include the investments as well. A little misleading in the title, but technically true. Either way, it's insane how often the average citizen gets preached to about their individual carbon footprint.
