Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company in South Carolina said his team stabilized Pepper X about a decade ago, but only released it now because no one had been able to beat his previous record.

It's possible to obtain pure capsaicin. At this point I'm surprised it isn't for sale as a sprinkle-on condiment.

I know Ed Currie personally. He's a great dude, gives back to the community, and is a total mad scientist. He has peppers waiting in the wings which put this one to shame!

Exactly right. Funny thing is he’s had Pepper X waiting for just such an event, but decided to release it anyway because nobody could beat the reaper. But they were getting close, so time to pull ahead again.

Why not just eat the fatal ones they use to make bear deterrent and shit? Maybe some of these super spice fanatics are immune to it and won't die. 🤔
