I learned recently Ben Stiller was the director and the actor that played the director had a hard time telling if Ben was telling him what to do as director or he was in his character ~~4 leaf~~. A movie about making a movie where the director is an actor and an actor is a director

Four Leaf was Nick Nolte's character. Stiller's character's name was Tug Speedman. Everything about that movie was comedic genius, including the silly names of the characters and their motivations

Edit: I just realized you meant Tug was playing Four Leaf in the movie they were shooting. My bad. I guess it's easy to get lost in the meta of it
