Hiya,

I have an okayish understanding of the Cisco product stack, but some others I'm not quite as familiar with. I was hoping to flesh out a EVPN-VXLAN live lab home environment, but wanted to do it where it maximizes financial and power efficiency. For example it seems that Arista 7050TX are relatively inexpensive, but would likely burn >100w just sitting at idle.

Ideal features:

8+ mgig ports, 10g+ uplinks

Relatively low power, low noise. Wasn't sure if there was a fanless option from any vendor

EVPN-VXLAN support with full layer 3 forwarding suite

IPv6 + OSPFv3

Is there anything that fits the bill? I kind of feel like I'll have to run VyOS in a low power hypervisor for that feature although you tend to lose scale/density and hardware acceleration. I do have some Mikrotik gear like a CRS317 but while you can set up some VXLAN or L2-over-L3 encapsulation I'm really looking for that EVPN functionality.

Thanks!

Why not build it with container lab running Arista vEOS or cEOS switches? You will need about 2GB of ram per container.
