I'll ave you know I'm a Sov Cit. This so called "government" is probably causing these SMS messages to damage property and cause flooding.

That's not a scam, it's the new nationwide severe weather warning system that launched this year. I think these Gold Coast storms might be the second time it's been used. The first was Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
