With radical demands such as a 32-hour workweek

oh my gosh, go, go!

although the company has been successful, they haven’t paid the employees back for that.

This is why they deserve a raise and why we all deserve a raise. There's no reason to keep all the wealth at the top, but of course, saying so is blasphemy in America.

Are there any union-led industries that aren't striking right now?

[–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That'll be interesting. Let's see if they actually follow through

[–] TheBaldFox@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

For real... Let's go with this shit already!

[–] quinnly@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I would love to go on strike right about now

This could have been the Teamsters too but alas, cowards sold out.

Wait really? Is there a place I can read about this drama?

Think hes referring to the UPS contract, which the teamsters negotiated very well for their members.

It was so good UPS was complaining about how much long term employees would make and how much the new contract cut into shareholder profits.

I think you are right. The poster is suggesting the Teamsters also should have gone on strike. Which... wow, okay. I was confused, thinking the Teamsters also had a union in thrbauto industry and were playing scabs to the UAW, which would be shocking drama.

Don't act like that was the best deal they could have gotten. They cowardly backed down instead of striking while the iron was hot.

Can you fucking imagine the impact of the UPS strike being followed immediately by this strike too? Holy shit.

The states don't have the class consciousness necessary for something like that.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml -3 points 1 year ago

Strikes build class consciousness.

Catch-22

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Weren't they forced out of their strike by the government?
