When you don’t know what to do, do nothing.

It’s okay to not stay busy.

[–] secret301@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I'd like to make sure people understand doing nothing is doing nothing. Not scrolling on your phone. Not watching a movie. Take a moment to just sit and be there. Being bored is important for us

Was that your comment I read? I didn’t save the post. It had really good advice.

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago

I'd say go one step further and meditate.

[–] Falafels@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Contrary to popular belief, sometimes shit doesn't happen.

Oh there's a few:

  • use FreeTube

  • Switch to Firefox and use uBlock

  • Toast your muesli

  • A nice list of recommended anime to watch, I'm going through it

Could you elaborate on "Toastyour muesli"? What do you mean? Do you put it in a pan?

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 6 points 1 year ago

Yes! A pan is an option. Another option is on a tray in the oven, low heat. Another option and my preferred one is add some water to make a paste, and bake as clusters.

Don't care about other people's opinions but when presented with facts, consider them.

[–] Xel@mujico.org 6 points 1 year ago

I would add to this to consider facts but context as well, facts can bring a misrepresented reality when they are presented as an argument without taking into account the whole background that produces them.

So far nothing really but I'll offer a big one here:

Don't let perfect be the enemy of better.

Well, there were a few people I should have listened to earlier about defederating a certain instance.

So happy I recently got my ex to listen to it even though she already has too much media to consume :)

[–] infinipurple@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Yes! Excellent advice, both of them.

[–] regalia@literature.cafe 2 points 1 year ago

It's just a podcast, no thanks

[–] Zikeji@programming.dev 12 points 1 year ago

A bit of advice I received prompted me to change my resume and start non hunting again. Also helped with the imposter syndrome some.

Switching from Cloudflare DNS to NextDNS.

And probably other stuff too, but I don't remember.

[–] regalia@literature.cafe 4 points 1 year ago

Nah swap to dns.adguard.com . Has all the benefits and built in ad/tracker blocking.

[–] Sailing7@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Whats the reason that made you move away from cloudflare?

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

NextDNS gives me more control. It can do stuff like ad blocking, tracker blocking and rewrites (same as /etc/hosts). It has many blocklists available.

Disadvantage is limit of 300,000 DNS queries/month on the free account, but it's enough for personal use.

However, where DoT or DoH isn't available, I still use 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare).

That I shouldn't even watch Danganronpa wallpapers on the web, since those can really easily spoil major parts.
