An 83-year-old retired priest has been arrested for defying a newly enforced ban on pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action, just hours after the group was formally outlawed by the UK government.

The Reverend Sue Parfitt, from Bristol, was detained for holding a placard that read: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.” She was among more than 27 people arrested on Saturday for acts of defiance against the proscription.

Medicaid is the invisible backbone of the entire care system. It pays for the speech therapist at your kid’s school. It keeps your neighbor’s medically fragile kid out of the ICU. It funds the home nurses, the therapy clinics, the medical supply companies, and the hospitals. Medicaid keeps systems running for everyone.

Disability isn’t a niche issue. If you live long enough, you’ll either become disabled or love someone who is. This isn’t only a “poor or disabled” issue. It’s everyone’s issue.

Now you can add water woes to the list of issues facing Diablo Grande. The community’s residents must approve a jaw-dropping water rate increase from $145 to $569 monthly — nearly a 300% jump — or watch their taps run dry on June 30.

Residents took over management of the water service in 2020, along with its mountain of debt. They face a June 30 deadline to approve the rate hike; otherwise, the agency says, water service to the development will be shut off.

Climate activists have lit themselves on fire trying to warn people of the looming catastrophe, and people still don't care because they are too scientifically illiterate. We are now in the "denial about ignorance" phase, in which convince ourselves we can somehow still ameliorate scientific illiteracy through bizarre methods like humor, sports, and fashion.
