Promise I'm not trying to be a debate pervert about this, I'm genuinely curious. But I'm pretty sure the guy who tweeted that was some nobody yet I, and everyone else, had a good laugh at that very bizarre tweet. Hell it's a site tagline now.

If that were tweeted today would it violet Rule 8 of the dunk tank? Could it be posted to the main comm?

I'm not sure if I want to open myself up about "this". It's not because I feel vulnerable, but because some people might think less of me for it. In a way, it's showing someone a massive weak spot that could be used against me. So, while I'm writing this, it seems obvious to me that it is foolish. Yet still, I have a lingering urge to share some of these feelings.

Truthfully, I have never shared this with anyone. Not even in a therapy setting have I felt comfortable enough to do so. I did nothing illegal, so don't worry. Its also nothing sex related.

Hypothetical. Imagine I killed someone in self-defense. Even if people might be sympathetic, they would view me differently after I told them that. It would change my relationship with them. This is just an example for something that has the potential to greatly change the dynamic between people.

I DIDNT KILL SOMEONE.

Any input would be appreciated.

EDIT OK. I talked with someone about it. Feel a bit better. Probably wont disclose it on Hexbear but thanks for all the input.

It was this like tired looking middle aged dude simply asking Kim if he'd kill him. It was so funny and surreal and google ofc is not letting me find it.

@makotech222@hexbear.net made a really good thread to help people deal with windows 11. I learned from it.

A bunch of people started posting about Linux in that thread.

Sometimes a good judge of if there’s enough interest to have a community is if people are talking about it in threads where it’s off topic.

Would it help to have a Linux comm?

The primary driver of support for the Right, all throughout the West, seems to be opposition to immigration. Within that, there are basically two groups: white supremacists, and people who have been conned into seeing migration, rather than economics, as the fundamental cause of their declining living standards.

It seems like this is a wedge issue that any successful populist left movement would need to confront. I guess what I’m wondering is whether it’s possible to resolve in a way that doesn’t abandon leftist values entirely.

Whilst we on the left regard multiculturalism as an inherent good, the reality is, in a democratic sense, it was something imposed from above - and largely as a means of growing the bullshit neoliberal service economy whilst simultaneously undermining working class power. That it was utilised in this way is partly why so many working class people have been able to be led by the media into blaming immigration, rather than economic policy, for declining living standards.

I’m not sure about the US, but in most Western countries the vast majority of immigrants are not refugees. For example, in the UK only 10% are refugees. It is actually nearly impossible for the poor of the developing world to immigrate to most Western countries.

Would it be possible for leftist parties to advocate for reductions in immigration, if that came within the context of increasing refugee intake? Of course there is no necessity for such a policy, nor is it desirable, nor ethical - I’m talking purely in terms of strategic necessity. Or is any kind of kowtowing to anti-immigrant sentiment too great and too dangerous a betrayal of our values? Would any retreat here only be aiding the resurgence of fascism?
I guess I’m thinking about this lately because of whats happening in France - I feel like most Western countries either are or soon will be following that direction. It seems we’re already running out of time, and still nowhere near ready. And I feel like all this anti-immigrant sentiment is the backbone of it, and yet it’s something that people who aren’t far-right are loathe to address. And maybe they’re right not too, maybe their is no possible compromise here. I really don’t know, so just wondering what other people think

Many times I’m having a completely unrelated dream session, then suddenly I sense that I’m about to wake up, so I just quickly manifest sex to the awkward surprise and staring of the dream cast present at the scene. But this is a paradox because it makes the dream end even faster because everything is rushed and sloppy and the manifested faces aren’t even as detailed as the natural dream.

The weird thing is that I’m aware of my dream state yet the thought of “let’s finish the adventure instead of having sex” doesn’t enter my mind.

I'm not sure why I feel this way. I don't want to get too much into anything, but when people say they create their own echo chambers Yada Yada thing, even though I would agree with that, it's interesting to see how people who believe different things, are just amongst eachother.

I wish there was a way to get all defederated or isolated instances to not necessarily federated but connect in a way where a user can see their feeds but you still can't reply if that instance has you on their blocked list idk
