All or nothing (lemmy.world)

I can relate... If it is worth doing, it must be done 100% right, first try, zero margin for error, no rehearsals, no practise round.

Like rocket science!

(Except I know that's not how rocket science is done, either, but somehow that thought refuses to sink in)

Still looking for a good word describing that strange mental state you'll find yourself in when you know how to mask almost perfectly, but just learned that you can't keep that up any longer, because that was the thing that almost crushed you.

It seems that for me whenever the meds "kick in" I can't really mask properly anymore which causes undesired social issues with some friends (especially in an outdoor setting like this meme implies). Wondering how many others experience this, and does anyone know why this happens? I haven't found any good reading on it and the psychs I mention it to just dismiss it.

Also maximizes frustration.

I also press F, but for grading the author, not as a sign of respect.

It doesn't exactly inspire confidence into the reliability of expert assessments, when this is the kind of textbook used to train them.

The less stimulation there is, the worse this gets for me. a.k.a. I sleep best in a sea of LEDs and to the sounds of PC fans and rainfall.

Is it too late to call in for a replacement?

I don't think I like the new Decisions&Discourse expansion for Social: The Gathering.

Okay,

  1. Ouch. and
  2. why is that considered a bad source of dopamine?

This comic hits that ND relatability and validation spot so often, it became the only reason for the Twitter app to still exist on my phone.

I have no idea, who these characters are. But they vibe.

On me at least. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

On the other hand, flirting blindness is a thing I also have, so it would probably be even more effective to reverse pickpocket me a slip of paper with a gamertag on it.

Listitems I have felt at least once before finding this: 7/8 Listitems I have known the name of before finding this: 0/8

How about you?

Also... what's the feeling called when reading something, thinking 'that sounds totally made up' - then doing a quick google and realizing its actually a thing?

Regular memeposting will resume as soon as the situation improves.

Especially on that one.

Zoning out of conversations is the worst...

...and it doesn't even depend on the topic being interesting or not.

I know it's hyperbole, but reading that was actually more inspiring than anything ever said to me by a neurotypical trying to motivate me.

I'll add another quip:

"Watch me swindle my way up an IT-career using nothing but my brain, a search engine and the power of spite."

But for me it's accurate either way, so I don't care. ๐Ÿ˜‡

My takeaway from witnessing a friends journey between imcompetent doctors, side effect heavy antidepressants and increasingly whacky other depression treatment methods:

When ADHD is the actual root cause, leaving it unacknowledged (and untreated) will achieve nothing and cause unnecessary harm.

Me: Coming from the side of already confirmed autism, but still feeling to be missing a piece of the whole picture.

This site and corresponding YouTube channel with presentations and Q&A from current researchers: Very helpful.

They only have a small section about Au+ADHD together, but the video they did on the topic was eye-opening. I'll later link that directly in another post.

I don't know what I did wrong in 6th grade to deserve writing a 20 page essay as punishment and decades later it still bugs me.
