I jest of course, quite hyped, although I was also say that Yoshi P's excitement over the mere fact that a job sticks his two swords together to a swordstaff for their 2 minute buff was... weird. 😅 Maybe it's some breakthrough in how the game engine works that I cannot appreciate and characters could not usually have two animation-sets, but to me it was just a minor graphics effect and little else.

Hi all, a friend convinced me to give FFXIV a try, and I've just made myself a Conjurer character. I'm barely 5-10 minutes in and damn this game's pretty. Also pleasantly surprised by how solid the controller support is so far.

Curious if there are any pitfalls I should avoid, or if any of you seasoned players have advice for someone who's just starting out.

• Currently on the free trial. Does the subscription ever go on sale? I don't doubt its value, but ~$150 USD / year is steep for any game (imo).
• Are the classes/races decently balanced? I've played other MMOs where the game's just not viable with certain classes.
• I saw a menu option for macros, and I'd assume that's keyboard-only? Are there any other players using just a controller, or does that become a hinderance at some point?

Starting on the 20th, the characters created get a lvl 80 skip for all jobs and may start MSQ at EW.

Testing ends on the 27th of november and all characters are wiped.

I really enjoy exploring them by myself, figuring out the mechanics and trying out all the paths. I understand it didn't land with most people due to the underwhelming rewards but the idea behind it is really fun.

Now, I don't think they are a replacement for explorarion zones or anything, I just think they should come alongside other pve content in the next expansions.

The savage version is a bit lame though, no new mechanics just a time limit, they should really add something to it that's actually fun. Mqybe something like special weekly effects that make it easier/harder/different.
