Hello everyone here on the Fediverse

I'm making a free and open source platform fighter featuring FOSS mascots (like Tux, Nolok, Konqi, Wilber and others). I'm doing it on my free time, but it's something I'd really like to get it done. It's been brewing in my head since May/June, and that's really when I got the basics done using SDL2 (I will use SDL3 when it gets officially released). Right now I'm working alone while also having a job in the meantime, and that's basically to get contributions from you that I wanted to post it here. Right now, I got the 2D rendering engine done using OpenGL 2.1, and I'm looking to add OpenGL 3.3 support as well.

For those interested, the repo is already on Github at this link.

And if you don't think you can help me with the development, feel free to also talk about it around you and tell me what you'd like for this game. I will be happy to see your suggestions (and contribution if you can ^^).

Best regards and hoping to see you here

I am currently working on a video game project, It's 3D, and in a particular feature where players can listen to the radio. I want to pull data from Odysee (LBRY) and a specific channel that I want to play in-game.

If I can't pull data from the network, Is there another way for me to access either music or video content without breaking a ToS.

I'm working with python if that helps.I am also new, or semi new to Python.

For context, I am using the bevy engine.

I know that you aren't supposed to store stuff that might contain a lot of information, such as dialogue, NPCs and skills.

I already found a library that helps me store dialogue (bevy_yarnspinner), but I've yet to find such a library for other ressources.

So I was wondering, usually in RPGs, where and how are stats, skills, NPCs (including enemies) and maps are stored? And how does leveling up work?

Hello, I have elected to pop my hosting in event, cherry in the most scuffed way possible. There is money about it.

Right but yet the theme is cute and dark. So cartoonishly cute and dark in theme. Cute with the dark aesthetics only has been done and you know it’s been done well so that’s that’s what’s up. Normal game jam rules. Contributors can vote. We are kind of you know doing this as a form of play. And I think that that’s perfectly fine. So yeah, if you agree and you want to put something in, come on by. It’s going to be open the whole time, and I might even do like Our weekly streaming kind of thing for an hour on Saturdays. I did it today and do you know that was OK.

However, despite all the attention Godot has been receiving, the switch from Godot 3 to Godot 4 called for the removal of Godot’s visual scripting system. This presented us with an amazing opportunity. We knew we needed to provide more to our users, and now Godot was lacking in a function that we know really well! And that’s how the current plan was kicked off.

Makes me wonder if they'll do something similar for RPG Maker if AGM does well enough commercially, since the RPG Maker Unite, which was supposed to work with Unity, died thanks to that charge the devs per-install kerfuffle.

Update from the dev on reddit (you can skip the OP, it’s full of false and inflammatory claims just to get upvotes):

Wow, I never expected to become the centre of one of these game dev controversies - I want to set the record straight about some of the misconceptions I'm seeing in this thread.

Firstly, no it isn't coincidential that there's a visual similarity between my game and his. Yes, I was inspired by certain aspects of Kenney's game in designing the visual identity for mine. At the time I didn't believe this stepped over the line of becoming plagarism - after all this is an industry where games are always iterating on previous ideas and that's by and large seen as being a good thing. Especially in this particular genre - where there's only so much you can do visually in the first place - at the time I didn't see it as problematic whatsoever that the games look visually similar. However I've spoken with Kenney directly and come to an agreement with him. It's also not good for the long term success of my game to be seen as plagarising and I would like it to stand on its own merit rather than under his shadow. That's why I've decided to make some changes to create some distance between the two games.

I don't hold any ill will towards Kenney and as far as I'm concerned we're on good terms - yes I do wish we could have resolved the matter privately instead of using the force of 100k Twitter followers against me - which he presumably know would result in the inevitible twitter shitstorm - but I also understand that emotions were running high and I can understand the perspective that he assumed I was acting in bad faith. It's not an ideal situation but it is what it is and as far as I'm concerned this is the best outcome for everyone.
