I'm sorry, but I like the "Catholic lore" oozing from this series (even though I don't like Catholicism, oddly enough).

It's a good watch.

I didn't know about the Zelda theme that plays at the beginning of Ocarina of Time till now, for example.

Also, video is 25:44 in case you want to invest; I used the picture-in-picture option to switch tabs while watching it.

Interesting stuff.

Yeah, I have high hopes for the next Zelda game, but I'm done with the current time-period.

The game is sitting at 90 on Metacritic at the moment which I think is overrated.

First things first, there are some things that the game does great. Traversal feels great. The game on a technical level performs excellent and instantaneous fast travel feels like magic. Stealth gameplay is very fun too though it does not get much focus.

On the other hand, the most important aspects of the game--story and combat--are underwhelming.

The story is standard capeshit so not much to say there. I liked Miles ascendancy to the status of the primary Spider-Man but Peter's struggle seemed a bit forced. There are some heartfelt moments. Other than that it's just them fighting the Bad Guys (TM). There are zero criticisms of class structure and NY is portrayed as being a free reforms away from paradise. At least the voice acting is passable.

Combat is really boring. Mostly involves spamming attack button, press the Dodge button when the indicator comes up and spamming abilities on cooldown. Boss fights are so goddamned boring.

So yeah that's why I think the game was just alright. Also it's budget was a bewildering $300 million.

(The only thing I will say is that chapter 13 is insane on the highest difficulty lol)

In this whole article there are only two paragraphs that are not useless word salad:

The government now wants to set a cap on how much money each player can spend within a title, according to the draft.

The regulations also asked that game publishers operating abroad respect Chinese laws and culture and refrain from endangering national security, without elaborating. Tencent is the world’s largest gaming publisher, with investments in studios from Epic Games Inc. in the US to Supercell in Europe. The agency will take feedback on the proposed rules for a month, without saying when they take effect.

Bonus reddit gamer cope:

I can get behind prohibiting these sorts of mechanics. Don't think they really add anything of substance. Though I would prefer that companies and the industry self-regulate rather than having the government step in, but that's unlikely to happen.

Look at this idiot that believes in corporations regulating themselves. I bet he thinks children who believe in Santa (a very real phenomenon whom I once saw in a mall) are stupid.

Check it out.

Anyone see anything that interests them here?

Like how Baldur's Gate 3 is based on Dungeons and Dragons.

I love how Disco Elysium revolves around talking and the occassional dice roll for checks. I love how combat is not thrown around willu nilly.

Nothing frustrates me more than not being able to pause for no seemingly good reason. I'm playing Wild Hearts right now and even though I never play online I cannot pause for some reason. To simulate pausing, I can turn off the xbox and the quick resume feature makes it look like the game was paused when I turn the console back on.

Other games guilty of this are Fromsoft games: Dark Souls, Elden Ring and so on.

Obviously all of these games have an online component. Not allowing pausing when this component is activated makes sense. But if I am playing completely online why cannot I pause? In Soulslike the worst exploit I can think of is switching equipment on the fly but is that really that bad? When stuff comes up in the middle crucial moments it frustrates me a lot.

I got it as a birthday gift from my brother. I didn't find it that scary, but I enjoyed it nonetheless

Cold Take did a deep dive on this lawsuit too. He's quite a lib, but presents a lot of data:

Similar to Virus Wars. Apparently this is a popular pen and paper game in Ukraine and the Urals. It was invented in the 1980s at Leningrad State University in the Soviet Union.

A better source for game instructions.

Like Black Mesa, it's one of the best shooters I've ever played, 8/10. After I post this, I'm going to play Episode 1

Edit: I have completed Episode 1, but I don’t feel like it warrants a new post

It's a tactics XCOM-esque war game with anime aesthetics that seems to be a reference to WW2. You as the protagonist, along with a few close friends, join the local militia to fight against the invading empire through near impossible odds as the enemy has superior numbers and firepower.

I honestly had a blast playing it aside from the whole anime tropes making up all the characters personalities (in both VC1 and 4); the gameplay is pretty good but the story is a little weird.

The empire itself seems to be an obvious reference to Nazi Germany, but also for whatever reason the USSR? At least the in game map makes it look like the USSR is a part of the Empire. The Empire has wunderwaffe weaponry (except that it actually works) so I'm more inclined to believe they were intending on making the Empire the Nazis. The game even features a whole fictional ethnic group that's discriminated against, and they're REALLY clear about that lol.

Just wondering if anyone else has played and I'm curious to hear your experiences!

  1. How much reliant is it on combat and shooting? Starfield for example was too reliant on shooting in my opinion. In fact, space "exploration" and "RPG" felt like afterthoughts.
  2. Any good mod suggestions? I am not looking for anything too fancy but QoL and bugfix mods are appreciated.

Yes, I know what I'm asking is basically sacrilege in the 'Soulsborne' community but I've played quite a few Souls games and I am kind of over the whole 'challenging myself' thing. Part of the reason I was originally drawn to the Souls franchise was the difficulty but now I just want to play Fashion Souls with a cool-ass character in a cool-ass world doing cool-ass shit. The game has so much lore and such a beautiful world and just so much creativity in general that the difficulty seems like a distraction from enjoying it.

I've heard using summons is a good way to alleviate some of the difficulty. Are there any other effective ways?
