Since Hoodwinked never got a sequel despite being a success at the box office and especially on its DVD release, I think it would be fun to speculate about what if it got a sequel :D

It's not unheard of for movies to get a sequel years and years later, puss in boots 2 came out 11 years after the first one. Anyways...

Short of impressive animation, this movie has it all. It’s got a great sense of humor. It’s got a wonderful sense of self-awareness. It’s got a surprisingly good plot with twists that you wouldn’t see coming. It’s got compelling stereotype-defying characters (aside from the cops, as Maven pointed out in their post (ACAB)). It’s got great musical numbers that are entertaining but don’t nearly overstay their welcome. It’s got a magnificent cast of voices in both the actors and singers.

The only thing it doesn’t have is impressive animation, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have competent animation. From what I’ve heard, the budget for the animation was so minimalistic that they literally outsourced to a studio that had never made a movie before, and even by that standard the animation is extremely good at carrying and conveying character personas and story.

What an incredible movie. It doesn’t even need a sequel. I love it.

I'm going to start this as a YouTuber would, with the most outrageous part first. Nicky Flippers is a racist who is actively participating in policing practices worse than what are currently even in the real world.

Before we get there, let's talk about the rest of the cops. Every police officer in the entire movie is blatantly incompetent and should be removed from the force. The chief charges people with no evidence and doesn't even listen to the victims in the situation. The crane gets extremely excited about the prospect of putting a literal child in a cage. The pigs are constantly destroying evidence and arresting people just for looking at them weird (aka being creepy) AS WELL AS falling asleep on the job and letting things under their protection get stolen and people they were supposed to be watching run away!

That list is just from memory so it's likely a lot longer. However, it's also worth noting that at no point do any of the cops do any actually good police work.

Back to Nicky Flippers...

One of the first things Nicky does is comment on a bear sleeping in a cave. We see nobody else sleeping anywhere other than a bed, including the animals (most notably the goat who showcases his bed during the song be prepared). This feels to me like a hurtful stereotype that Nicky is perpetuating.

Next he comments on a coworker's weight. Which is bad on its own, but that coworker is also a pig... Another hurtful stereotype......

Later we see him use the term Loon as an insult which causes offense to the crane. Now he's moved from stereotypes up to potential slurs!

He is careless, he constantly insults those around him, and he steals food during an investigation! The only positive trait this man has is his dancing which he refuses to do anymore.

ACAB!

Edit: idk how I forgot this but Nicky Flippers OWNS A PERSON?!?!!?!

He has a sentient pet!!!

This isn't a Pluto vs Goofy situation either. The dog he keeps on a leash does work for him. He has an employee on a leash and makes him keep the records for all his investigations! I don't think this is even close to justifiable even if you think the other stuff is potentially okay.
