Is this a threat to your VPN?

Can you give an official answer?

Specifically, when I disconnect from Mullvad, my firewall blocks many of my open tabs since they are trying to traverse through the WireGuard tunnel. This is fine and expected!

However, I'm curious to know if Mullvad shares information about how they choose their IP ranges (i.e. 10.0.0.0/8) they use with the WireGuard protocol, if it is deterministic, and any general information so that I have a better understanding of what is going on within my system.

Thanks!

Running mullvad on my plex server (i do my downloads there too) it was working, people could connect fine yesterday. Today nothing is connecting and all services no longer work if the VPN is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have split tunnel on and that is also not working

On MacOs using Mullvad 2024.4, I have "Allow Local Sharing Enabled". A machine on VLAN 10 at IP 192.168.10.123 tries to connect to a machine on VLAN 20 at IP 192.168.20.123.

Running traceroute -I -v 192.168.20.123 I see that the interface used is utun4. Is that expected?

Some other context:

  • Split tunneling is off
  • DNS content tracking (ads, trackers, maleware) is on
  • Kill switch is on
  • WireGuard is on

I've tried to enable split tunneling for just Outlook due to it interfering with some work email connections. I added Outlook to the exlcusion list, but I have since noticed that Chrome will then NOT use the VPN. If I turn off split tunneling, Chrome will use the VPN.

How I do I make sure all y traffic goes through the VPN except Outlook?

So I was creating some Proton E-Mails. Every newly created Proton Mail is corresponded to a totally other IP-address from a totally other country than the other emails have. After some time I realised that Protonmail always recommended me to secure the account with a telephone number and they always already selected for me MY REAL COUNTRY (the one im really living in). Quick note: I typically use LibreWolf, so everything is deleted after I close the Browser. Aside I use multiple DNS Blockers and other anti-ad or tracking mechanics. Aside from Protonmail not really known for collecting/using that much of their users data, there isn't really something out there bound to me that should correspond to my multiple newly created email-identities. I've checked whether it has to do with Browser- or OS-language, but no... So I hopped on TOR and created another identity and this time they recommended me a "wrong" country as telephone option (so not my real country). So I thought: "oh ok... maybe protonmail somehow look over the single connection I have with Mullvad and therefore guess my right origin". So I activated Multihop via WireGuard and to my surprise: They were still correct with their guessing. What am I misunderstanding / doing wrong? What does TOR right, which I don't? Or is it just Protonmail secretly being the company with intentions we didn't know about... at first (i really doubt this, but i really want to know what is going on... maybe somebody can clear things up? I'd be happy to have a nice explanation)

Hi everyone,

I'm having some troubles with qBittorrent in Docker. I know Mullvad has killed port forwarding, but I'm not sure if that's the problem.

Thing is I'm able to download close to the maximum speed of my connection (1 gigabit through ethernet) but somehow I'm uploading at 50-80kb/s all the time and I'm not sure if this is because of Mullvad or it's just no one is leeching from me. I switched to a different server and still the same. Is there a way to check this? Could it be because of Mullvad not allowing port forwarding? If that's the case, shouldn't my download rates be very slow too?

Thank you!

Is it safe to change the default security level to "safer", or will that make it easier to fingerprint you? It says on their website that anything beyond the default security levels shouldn't be changed, but I just wanted to be sure. Sorry if this is a noobish question

Began with latest Mullvad VPN macOS app update.

Tried many different things but continue to experience Apple News not working when Mullvad VPN is enabled. Works when VPN is completely off. Toggling DNS filters doesn’t change anything.

Emailed support but never heard back for weeks.

Anyone else experiencing this or find a fix?

It looks like I can add 30 days through Apple Pay, but I don’t see a bitcoin option. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any tips.

… especially after dealing with my issues with YouTube recently.

I am interested in learning more about this, and how it will help me. For one thing, how is the browser compared to others like Firefox and chrome? I heard the connection is fast? How is it VPN compared to NordVPN, and even MalwareBytes VPN?

Does anyone noticed YouTube doesn't work well with VPN / blocklist recently? Any fix?

Getting really good speed with overall better response time if WireGuard app is in use but Mullvad app will fall behind and also got improved battery with less impact on system.. . Ofc the Mullvad app comes with more advanced features but I do wish it becomes more "lighter" like the WG app...

How would I route all traffic from a port on a raspberry pi through a mullvad VPN?

The CEO of PremierVPN is shilling their VPN by pretending to be regular VPN users under the usernames u/911ts and u/Nullsec22. These accounts likely belong to Keith Murray, the owner of PremierVPN and former CTO of TorGuard, who was fired for unknown reasons.

Examples of dishonest promotion:

Title: Blocked in Turkey?

I stay in turkey half the year and holy molly, more and more services are blocked everytime i come back. My Firestick is fking useless, Try PremierVPN folks, it works for me, tried a free VPN initally and ads were bursting out my device holy crap. Anyway good luck, Turkey is becoming more and more restricted I find.

I definitely advise users to avoid PremierVPN due to these dishonest tactics.

I have a Windows 10 machine running Mullvad 2024.4 which connects fine and is working as expected from a VPN perspective.

I was hoping to keep a mapped drive alive to a network share, which from the screenshot included appears to be something that is supported, however when I connect to the VPN with Local Network Sharing enabled, I loose my connection to the mapped drive.

Has anyone successfully managed a VPN connection which doesnt sever any existing mapped drives, using Local Network Sharing, without split DNS?

Thanks

Like the title suggests, I've created a script that lets you install Mullvad Browser with just a script. It is open source under the license of GNU AGPLv3.

You may access to it at: https://github.com/spookyorange/mullvad-browser-linux-install (GitHub/Spookyorange/mullvad-browser-linux-install)

Good day!

So there are a few instances when I want communication between devices in my network, and a VPN is a hindrance to that.

On my phone, running the android app, its really easy as I can go into "Split Tunneling" and set an exemption for an app I want (in this case LocalSend).

However on my desktop, its another matter (I'm running the Linux version 2024.4 if it matters, but this problem has been here ever since I started using the service years ago).

First there's no obvious way to set a permanent exemption for an app (as I can in android). If you go into "Split Tunneling", I am only given the prompt to launch the app...which does get cumbersome. To navigate into Mullvad's settings, find Split Tunneling, and launch the app from there.

Second and more annoyingly, the split tunneling doesn't work in Desktop. My devices can't see each other unless if I disconnect from the VPN.

There has to be a better way to do this; and frustratingly on android there is.

I'm in a country that's weird about VPN. I managed to establish a connection using Bridge Mode in the OpenVPN settings, but for some reason I can't connect to Tailscale with that setting on. I get a warning with a long-ish error message along the lines of "The last login error was fetch control key...failed to resolve controlplane.tailscale.com and no DNS fallback candidates remain." Any ideas what's going on here and/or if there is a workaround?
