For example, I created this post with this image hosted on lemmy.sdf.org as URL. The post never made it to !skiing@lemmy.world.

However, the same post with the same image hosted on pixelfed.sdf.org made it just fine.

This is just one example. I've made at least a dozen such posts and each time this happens without fail - unless the URL is something other than a lemmy.sdf.org-hosted image.

Not sure where to report this...

I posted this post on 3D Printing@lemmy.ml and cross-posted it to 3DPrinting@lemmy.world, and apparently it made it to neither.

For the lemmy.world community, I'm not really surprised. I simply can't create any post on any lemmy.world community from SDF. None of my posts ever shows up there for some reason. But I'm more surprised that it doesn't show up on lemmy.ml: usually I have zero problems with that instance.

So I'm wondering if there's a problem with federation or if it has something to do with the large number of photos in my post.

Anybody knows?

Is SDF's Matrix instance still accepting requests for invitations? I'm a member and I've sent mine around a week ago. I just wanted to confirm, thanks!

Are we having federation issues again? Feels like we are.

I'm trying to figure out how to do it cause of this text:

If you were referred to SDF by a friend or a current SDF member, they may be able to validate your new account for you. You can usually find SDF regulars in either 'com' or 'irc'. Be sure to ask them to help you.

Well, can anyone help? :D

What were you up to during the outage?!

It seems like I can't vote on posts or comments. It seems to fail no matter the instance (other than SDF). Am I alone here?

I’ve noticed this problem on infosec.pub as well. If I edit a post and submit, the form is accepted but then the edits are simply scrapped. When I re-review my msg, the edits did not stick. This is a very old Lemmy bug I think going back over a year, but it’s bizarre how it’s non-reproducable. Some instances never have this problem but sdf and infosec trigger this bug unpredictably.

0.19.3 is currently the best Lemmy version but it still has this bug (just as 0.19.5 does). A good remedy would be to install an alternative front end, like alexandrite.

Neither of my posts from yesterday and today have made it out to their communities' home instance (lemmy.world), and neither has received any comments or votes. It seems like something to do with outgoing federation is stuck.

Edit to clarify:

The problem I'm seeing affects posts. I don't know if it affects comments.

It's possible that it only affects lemmy.world communities, but it definitely affects them even on other instances. Neither of these posts are showing up on any remote instance that I've seen:

6 days later, it's happening again:

Went to the block page in Settings and typed "threads" into the instance field. Threads.net didn't show up. Is this because they are already blocked by SDF? Or are they still getting my content? I already had a Threads user reply to one of my comments maybe a month ago. I decided to wait and see how I felt about it and I'm certain: I don't want my posts reaching them. Thanks in advance.

This happened a couple months ago as well. Is certbot misconfigured?

The concept of a public Unix box is neat, but why? Is this a way to connect with like-minded people? Is this locational? I've known about this for a while and I don't really understand the purpose. What is anonradio? Lipsy gopher show? I have so many questions, I'd love some answers.

Hi,

I posted twice to a community on lemmy.world and wondered why no one upvoted or replied.

If I go to the the community directly via a web browser my posts don't show.

Is federation broken again?

My posts were 6 and 7 days ago.

running com (on both ssh and WeTTY) returns: % buss era.

I am very new to SDF and was wondering if this was because I'm not validated yet. Saw a similar post online but no solutions. Does anyone still chat on there?

Thanks!

I had forgotten about SDF but seeing SDF instance on Lemmy caught my attention. I used to use SDF for a while about 10 years ago and now it would be interesting to see if I have left anything interesting there.

I found my notes from ten years ago so I know what my username was. I don't remember my password though. I tried to log in but to no avail. Is there any way to know whether my account still exists? Do accounts get removed if they're not used for long periods of time?

Exciting for me that the community is actually getting some visitors.

This is my first time being a moderator for a community, so would be happy to receive any tips!

Did someone forget to plug in the certbot?
