I genuinely want to gauge the interest of people wanting to play Splatoon 1 before the online shutdown.

Do you have any goals that you're yet to complete for Splatoon 1 online?

I can't wait to hear your replies below. Personally, I want to achieve getting to level 50, I'm currently at level 46. I also would like to achieve a higher rank than B- 52 but I'm not really fuzzed about that. I don't really have any other online goals, mostly just stuff with Amiibo so I can get closer to having all of the items in the game (I think I'm honestly just missing mostly Amiibo items).

Also, if you want to find some people to play with, it might be worth leaving your NNID in your reply, since I'll certainly be looking for people to play with to achieve my goals.

It's over...

From April 2024, you'll be no longer able to play any Wii U or 3DS game online, and the SpotPass service will be officially shut down.

I did not expect it to come so soon, but at least Nintendo Network lasted 4 years longer than the DS.

If you want to play Splatoon 1 online from that date, you will need to have @pretendo installed on your Wii U.

This does require your Wii U to be modded if it isn't already running the Aroma environment (unfortunately there's no guides for Tiramisu).

To get your Wii U modded, for the best experience, first follow all the steps for Tiramisu on this page (it isn't required but it might be handy to have both): https://wiiu.hacks.guide.

Then, after that, you can follow the Aroma steps on this page: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/aroma/getting-started.

To install Pretendo Network on your Wii U, follow these steps: https://pretendo.network/docs/install/wiiu

Considering this account is geared towards Splatoon, I won't say much about the 3DS but you'll need to mod it with the Luma3DS CFW. Unfortunately, older 3DS models are currently unmoddable if they're running 11.17.0.50.

I thought you guys might want to know about this, Splatoon 1 speedrunner LonTr0 has achieved a new world record of 28:03 on the game's Any% category.

The game is currently just 3 seconds away now from a sub-28!

I'm about a month late to the party, but I thought it would be cool mentioning it whilst I'm here.

After not finding any major skips in years (mostly level skips have been found), Splatoon 1 can now be completed in under half an hour thanks to a new skip called World 4 early, which combined with skipping World 4 means that World 2, 3 and 4 are no longer played in a speedrun.

I've been delighted with dread wringer (though I would love to have a functioning special, pls for the love of god Nintendo). And I play a lot of comp and have really enjoyed that its more flexible for a variety of modes than my other main front line weapon, range blaster, which is only particularly strong on tower control.

I'm really proud, in the first few days of the season I got dread wringer to 607th x rank placement on the leaderboards for tower control, which is higher than I've ever been, I was super proud 🥺.

I think I'm also grateful to have a front line weapon I really like that can paint now, range blaster is garbage at paint lol, but dread wringer has me pretty often getting highest turf covered for a match!

Heavy edit seems busted strong, but I did a really bad job of playing it, I think I was just playing with the wrong mindset about how to position and control space. Its a cool weapon though! (But also it desperately needs at least a little nerfing lol, its sooo strong). And I had a good time playing machine a bit again; I'd kinda dropped it cause its kit honestly felt too good, but I love having a point sensor kit for it again, even if I'm horrible at inkzooka 😅 a more supportive kit would have been kinda nice, but I think only I would be happy with that. I love a kit with a main that can carry and a kit that can help me and my teammates play our best. And the new brella is super cool but also I'm no good at brella, but I'm happy they gave it at least a miniscule buff and a super strong kit- it desperately needed it

I'm not quite sure whether this marks off every region yet, I have no idea whether they are being distributed in South Korea at the moment (thanks NorthWestWind for the verification for Hong Kong).

I'm a bit too late, but from around 4am to 8.40am, you may have had some issues playing Splatoon 3.

This issue also affected Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (and probably Nintendo Switch Sports too). It seems to be an outage for any games using the NPLN system.

The servers are back up now though!
