We've heard of jinns in bottles and hidden in mysterious places, but with the internet boom, this one jinn felt like a boomer, and even more so, she was bored. She went on the internet and learned everything there was to learn. "To overcome this boredom I need more people finding me and making wishes" she thought.

She infused her soul into a URL, that's right, a URL, she was a freaking genius. The URL she chose was boogle.com, she wanted to grant wishes of the poor souls who made a typo while trying to access google.

She underestimated how many people would type boogle instead of google. And so it followed, thousands of people landing on boogle.com and making one wish as per her rules. She was shocked to see how mean, greedy and selfish the people can be. Everyone wanted money, power, looks, fame, attention etc etc.

Her boredom was sated pretty soon, and "never again" she thought.

Just when Emily landed on boogle.com. Emily was 13 and living in an orphanage. She had her first period yesterday. Had she had a mother, she would have answered all her questions about periods. But she had to rely on google to answer her infinite questions, that the caretakers won't bother to answer.

The Jinn appeared in front of Emily, and repeated "You can make one wish..." for the thousandth time. Emily started crying and for the first time the jinn paid attention, she cared for the first time in centuries. Without even wishing, jinn made her pain go away. And once Emily calmed down, they talked for hours, jinn felt as if she hadn't talked to someone since forever. They laughed and laughed and for the first time ever Jinn didn't see an owner in front of her, but a child, even her own child. To her if felt as if her wish was granted instead.

She left boogle in an instance, and infused her soul into Emily's heart, fulfilling here every wish forever without Emily ever asking.

Thank you for reading. I am new to writing, any advice and feedback is really appreciated.

I originally posted this to !shitty_million_dollar_ideas@lemmy.dbzer0.com but I feel like it would be a better fit for a writing prompt. I feel like there's plenty of chances for humorous situations like Jesus wearing a noticeably fake beard and production staff getting people to sign NDAs.

I realized while I was making that story prompt generator a while back that what I had really been trying to do is make prompts for multiple people to bounce back and forth and build on together. I've also always enjoyed forum roleplay threads over tabletop games with dice and stats and what not, so this is a LOT more freeform than a typical tabletop game, and what rules there are just make it playable/portable across pretty much any forum/message board/link aggregator website.

I made some prototype rules for this game, and the community I made for it is linked. Basically you have an "Editor" (Game Master/Dungeon Master) who guides the writers (players/characters) through creating a world and their characters, then regularly adds a chapter prompt that they have to write a chapter for their character for. It's not a long time commitment, I was thinking to playtest a story for maybe every other day or every two days for the shortest story structure (5 chapters). It's all designed to take place in one forum post, with top-level comments for OOC, world building, character creation, and the chapters. Also, if this does just turn into a freeform r/writewithme clone, my feelings won't be hurt; it will be cool to have helped create a community no matter what it looks like in the end.
