Who's we? If you're not out there killing Palestinians or advocating for their destruction, no need to shoulder the burden of guilt. That's just a spiral of self-loathing and a detriment to your mental health.
We can acknowledge that people are not their governments, like how not all of Palestine is Hamas. So does it apply to you as well.
"We" as I'm the American government directly, and us indirectly. After all it's our tax money that's being wasted funding Israel.
Hamas actually has a moral and legal right to resist the occupation. What right does any government has to enable a genocide?
Among many reasons why Hamas’s actions are justified are: the illegal occupation ongoing since 1967 and Israel’s refusal to multiple peace offers by Hamas, the Palestinian Authority and the Arab League.
Most israelis support the Genocide of Palestinians whereas most Palestinians support a peaceful 2state solution.
But if someone is not supporting the genocide, why take the blame for it? There's a clear and present cause (Israeli aggression), not random internet people halfway around the world who have done nothing of their own volition to perpetuate this cycle of injustice.
It is absolutely appropriate to be sympathetic and feel terrible about what is happening, and it is virtuous to take proactive steps to end this injustice by any means available to you. I just think it is unhealthy to turn that resentment inward.
If someone gets bullied at school would you want everyone to look the other way because it's not their responsibility? Or do you want people to stand up against oppression? It is our responsibility as people in a position of privilege to use our power to help oppressed people.
The people being oppressed by our governments being physically far removed from us is little relevant. Speaking out against Genocide is our responsibility the moment we observe it happening.
Yeah, that's fine, do that, just don't internalize yourself as the bully just because someone with actual power makes all of your country's decisions for you.
