General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Sky high rent

Nothing to do with immigration. But direct cation from the Tories, who spent the 80s arguing social housing was unfair competition on the private rental sector. Went out of their way to destroy that sector. Now no competition exists to limit housing costs. Our own voters for the last 50 years are responsible for housing costs.

the NHS is overwhelmed

More people working for the NHS, more people paying taxes. Vs Tories intentionally refusing to increase spending inline with inflation. While actually increasing the cost of staff by forcing most qualified nurses and doctors to work as more expensive contract staff.

It does not take much to see why Tory propaganda wants you to bereave that bullshit.

The rise of the far right is caused by the far right elements of the tory government selling crap excuses for their own actions. Over 50 years. But really upping the game for the last 14.

The lead up to the last election was so full of Tory blame slinging, it's fucking ridiculous. Labour may not be much better in their desperate attempt to appeal to the right. But the Tories have been playing this game since the 1920s, when immigration bullshit first launched against German immigrants in the press. Timed perfectly with the growth of socialism and unions, within the working class.
