I am a couple chapters behind, but I struggled with carpal tunnel while I was in grad school due to spending 40+ hours a week constantly pipetting in the lab (biophysics). They make some ergonomic and electronic pipette options these days, so it isn't as bad a problem. Also, as I have progressed in my career I spend dramatically less time in the lab compared to what I used to do.
