I’ve been pretty politically active for the past 20 years, and it’s rough right now. Remain vocal and remember organizing locally is the most impactful. Complaining on lemmy (which I do when doom scrolling) doesn’t amount to more than yelling into the void. Boycotts, protests, volunteering, and a direct action approach to the issues you feel strongly about are where your time and energy will serve the most purpose. It’s great to see positive change on a national scale, but it’s far too depressing if that where you keep all of your focus. Internet communities are not as important the real ones we live in.

As far as the genocide in Gaza, the average person can’t do much more than boycotts, protesting and calling/emailing your representatives. It’s deflating when both presidential candidates commit to supplying the weapons being used to continue the war crimes…but I will remain vocal and participate in local events. Food Not Bombs is one I regularly support.

Keep up the good fight
