Welcome, I am currently starving because to eat means to make a decision and possibly go outside when it's COLD OUT
And I'm too hungry to make that decision let alone take on the cold to obtain the food in question.
Cheapest way I've found to obtain sustenance is HDRs. $40 for a case of 10 on Amazon, each one is a day's ration. Two entrees, two packs of MRE crackers, peanut butter, strawberry jam, cookie, fig bar, pop tart... $4 for a day's worth of food, delivered to your door.
That took me down a rabbit hole. Seriously tempted to replicate this for my work lunches: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanitarian_daily_ration
I wish I could find more products in retort packaging, but they aren't very popular. Probably because they aren't microwaveable.
It's nice being able to throw the entree packet over the windshield defroster vents, and having a cheap, hot meal on the go.
Ooooooh that would be perfect!
I finally ended up making a meal. Made congee, with corn, peas, Parmesan and cheddar, and bacon. Easy, just takes a lot of time to simmer the rice. Usually make a huge batch too so I can have plenty of leftovers
I accidentally discovered that cream of rice can be an instant substitute for congee. Good for those days when you think you'll lose your appetite by the time the real deal would be done
