Who's taking the photo? Do people really have extra phones around just for moments like this?

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

They are making cameras now for kids without phones attached. Might be one of those.

[–] authorinthedark@lemmy.sdf.org 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

they also make cameras for adults without phones on them

[–] HyperlinkYourHeart@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

That's ridiculous how would you even post the photos?

[–] Elgenzay@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 weeks ago

I've never seen a kid without a phone attached

I carry 2 phones all the time. I work in government. If I use my phone for work, it becomes subject to Open Records requests, so the city gives me a stipend to pay for a second phone to do all my city business.

I worked at a different city that didn't do that for most employees, and everyone just used their personal phones anyway. We got an Open Records request that resulted in me having to search everyone's text message history. I felt dirty.

So in that scenario, taking a picture like the OP would result in some raised eyebrows no matter which phone snapped the picture of which phone, it sounds like! XD

I have a separate phone for work. Not government or anything. I have a bunch of personal apps on it, but I don't like having my only phone be owned by my work.

am I getting old? I got like 5 devices around that can take photos that are not a phone on account of before phones used to be able to do that you had devices for it

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

Hanging out with a friend or family and borrowing their phone, I would imagine

[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago

I for one don't throw away old/broken devices so long as they at least boot up
