As someone who works in the industry I find it hard to believe they’re running a mountain with no ski patrol. How would a lift evac be possible without them?

Well they're bringing in scabs from mother mountains. Obviously they do not know all the procedures and many are not actually fully trained ski patrol anyway.

So how would lift evac work? Very very badly and slowly and unsafely. But since when does a giant corp like Vail give a shit about that

All companies look to lower their risk of a lawsuit. If something goes wrong due to a labor dispute Vail would be liable.
