This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

I get the ironic angle of the mod being "authoritarian" but that's their space and if they decide they don't want to deal with trolls arguing about they can ban people.

Just like trans communities can and should ban people who just want to argue about if trans people are real. If you try to argue against it you're just being a dick and distracting from the point of the community.

How was OP trolling? They simply called out the strawman in the OOP

If the point of a community is spreading misinformation, you have a moral obligation to distract from the point of the community

Are you suggesting America isn't authoritarian?

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

idk about that specifically, I was making a general statement about the behaviors of this genre of online community

I'll bite, compared to Russia or China, the U.S. is not an authoritarian state.

Do you think it is?

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

why prison pop is so high then?

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lol, further proof that the word "authoritarian" is just a meaningless snarl word for foreign adversaries.

They have a larger prison population then any other country and spend more on military than the next several countries combined

[–] random@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

at least the us doesn't have concentration camps ig

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

US prisons are not far off what with the forced labor and high death rates.

[–] random@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

yeah, ik and I hate both the us and china, I just can't stand it when people claim that the us is the worse than china, which isn't true since in the us you at least get free speach and the right to own a gun

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The US only has forced labor programs in dangerous work conditions

[–] random@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

don't know about the dangerous work conditions, but the existance of private prisons scares me enough

They're currently putting out the California fire, you cant get much more dangerous

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 4 days ago

The gulag system is mostly for the blacks, we are not the same.JPEG.

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com -4 points 4 days ago

Are you suggesting term length has anything to do with authoritarianism?

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And does that apply to when transphobes decide that trans people being real is "misinformation"?

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No, because it's not. Truth is not subjective.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world -3 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

For future reference if you find yourself saying this phrase you've already lost the argument

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cool, but idk since the truth isn't subjective and the truth is I'm right.
