Plain tortilla chips are for dipping. Do you use the cheese ones for salsa...?

[–] thatsTheCatch@lemmy.nz 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Absolutely. They're tastier. Natural ones taste like cardboard

That must be a really shit brand because good tortilla chips are delicious

If its the brand in the photo in the post its one of the longest running in NZ and OP is right they have no flavour at all. But we do have good tortilla chip brands in NZ now (for ages it was basically this brand and Doritos/CCs), and the plain ones are much better and def delicious.

I took for granted my proximity to Mexico... Now I feel guilty for rubbing it in OP's face. I'm sorry, New Zealand!

Heh, well yes - even our best brands from specialty online retailers or restaurants probably aren't going to compare to what you can get! Its got a lot better in the last decade though, I think anyway i've not had the opportunity to try the real thing.

Natural tortilla chips have corn and salt. I doubt the cheese variant has just cheese. It even any cheese

See, these natural chips don't have salt. They have a lightly salted variety and it is delicious
